Just a few hundred made... I think that also goes for the Lyrec PTR-1 "Frida" which is also exceptionally well sounding... but WAY more portable than this one. Just 12kg and still able to use 30cm reels... the best of all worlds for me. After I got this one, I quite frankly didn't use my Studer A807 MK2 for any new recordings anymore. That one sounds muddy compared to the fresh, dynamic sound the Lyrec has to offer. I adjusted both myself to the max, so the differences are purely related to the sound quality of the machines themselves. And now I know: the A807 isn't known as the best sounding recorder, but mechanically it is top notch, and the tape handling is second to none. Pancakes playing and even rewinding(!) in a fully upright position? The A807 does it without sending 1100m of tape through your living room 🙂 Both have THREE speeds by the way, which is a welcome addition to just 2 speeds. And CCIR / NAB switching with the push of a button...

Experts like vindicari, who use tapedeck for home listening will be fine with almost any nice unit, if well aligned.- Peter shows some features of a new Stellavox, assembled from factory stock and some new parts. Who can comment on this? Who ownes a TD9, from the workbench of Peter? We are not talking about private listening, right? We talk about recording! Do you - and I am talking to all customers visiting this page! - have any idea what it takes to tune a baroque organ instrument, as for instance a Stumm-Organ (or, it “remains”) at a church, let’s say in St. Goar/ Germany? This will cost the church from 30 - 60 k, in Euros. Do you have any idea, what it takes for a organ player, to come so far to play a fugue from Bach, to play it well, to play it in a way it can compete with what is “on the market”? My friend Alexander studied music for serveral years, in St. Petersburg and Luebeck, and I can tell you what it takes . . . Furthermore: any idea about the skills & equipment you need to take a concert, let’s say a “simple” organ concert, for which you needed only one nice stereo mic? Taking all this into consideration, we should strive for the stars, when it comes to quality in recording. Stellavox is for sure one of the few stars, if not the brightest one. The Stellavox SP-7 or SP-8, to take an example, is for sure sonically the best 3,7inch/sec recorder on this planet. I know Peter for quite a while, and I consider his statement, "the TD9 is the best recording unit for tape recording ever buildt" is true. In order to verify yourself you needed to make a shootout with TD9 and A820, both aligned to the best SM tape from RTM. As for me I do not have a TD9. What I can say about Peter: I took units from Peter, aligned by his technicians. Some days ago he sent me some samples, in order to check differences in tape quality. One sample, on Peter’s unit in my studio, sounds to me like a clear master (and I do have master tapes of baroque organ music at hand). The tape I got from Peter is minimum second, if not third generation. I mean: this guy does know what he is doing. When you are into recording, then, if you can afford it, trust the trustworthy people. We only live once - all recordings, all productions are final. My advice: do not spare on recording stuff. Take the best you can get. Do your job well, and try to get back the investment from those who buy your stuff. Offer/ sell the best quality you can get, for your sake, for your customer's sake. Let’s educate our customers to use sources which are worth to listen. Update, 24 h later: When you strive for the best, my (blind) advice is: go for the Stellavox TD9, not a used one, but a new one, obviously, from Peter. When you want excellent results in recordings, take one of the larger Studer or Telefunken units from Peter, aligned to the tape he shall recommend - you cannot make a mistake. For Peter I recommend: make your brand SEPEA audio even stronger: s i g n the units which come from your workbench, let it be signed on the unit, inside or outside, by you & your technican who had his hands on it. SEPEA audio is not just a brand to be "remembered" - in case you are into pro. RECORDING, this place incl. it's shop with RTM tapes is to be considered.

Hi Chris, we have measured that for you yesterday. We have used test records "The ultimate analogue test LP" & "Tacet Vinyl Check", Wow/Flutter signal 3150Hz, 33.3RPM, test equipment AP Portable one plus, according to standards WTD, IEC, PEAK - measured value 0.09 - 0.12% & WTD, JIS, PEAK - measured value ~0.07%. Of course the optical method of measurement would be more appropriate and accurate, but these are real life results in normal listening room conditions. Hope this helps. Bohuslav/SEPEA audio

hi have a scully 280-14 i am doing up at this time all speeds and and tape sizes 1/4 1/2 and 1/8 tape as well the deck was in a very bad way i will say i am using otari mtr 12 tec and tascam 38 parts s well left overs from doing up decks i do have a 100% work mtr 12 works ace

Старая технология стоящая копейки и вдруг стала стоить каких то баснословных невменяемых денег . В конце 90х катушечники продавались на вес . А сейчас тупо мода слушать исходники .Ну ну .Возмите любой дешёвый видеомагнитофон , там кинематика на порядок сложнее и звуковой тракт построен не то что не хуже , а на порядки превосходит всю вот эту муть . Но он же не стоит столько бабла .

Игрушка очень зачётная , но есть пару но . Первое - опоздала лет на 35 и второе цена . Там не за что отдавать такие сумасшедшие деньги . Ну плюс время цифровых форматов как DSD вообще не оставляет никаких шансов . Я сам люблю всю вот эту тему и винил и плёнку и даже иногда слушаю музыку с плёнки . Но время на месте не стоит . А пока вывод мой такой - это просто тупо нажива на нашей ностальгии .

nonsense , professional tape machines use 1/2 inch or 1 inch tape like studer or ampex, this an overpriced machine for people with more money than sense, technics rs1500 is every bit as capable. and has 3 speeds. just another piece of bling not worth the money.
