Disqualified! The show steward stated she trotted out of the arena. Her coach our I didn't see it nor did I video till she walked out (I won't do that again). So there you have it. She didn't qualify for Regionals in 2'. She won't do that again. Next time she'll trot at least 5 strides to the arena gate and then walk out.

    Another moronic idea. May work for farmers but on a ranch it would b useless as a teat on a bull

      Thank you for your opinion! We don't have a ranch so it sounds like you know more than us. I do know ranchers want to do everything on horseback and/or atv and I can say my wife ropes and has used this gate latch horseback. However we are def. not working ranchers by any stretch!

    Hello, just wondering how this has held up now that a few years have passed. I would love to skip quarter round and basically do an install just like this in my 07H including the bathroom. Just concerned about expansion from heat : humidity without any gap. So yeah, what say you now? I’d love to tackle this project this month but really hope to do it once and do it right. Thanks!

      bryantroll Hi. It has held up very well. No issues. Looks the same as day I installed it. We use the rv too. Good luck!

      Juliet Doty thank you, that’s great to hear. Just really don’t want any buckling or separation and my RV sees hot and cold temps. Do you know what flooring you used? Was it floating or secured down? Also did you use trim at the edge of the slide under the sofa?

    • @julietdoty6502
      @julietdoty6502 4 года назад

      bryantroll It was floating, 1/4” tung and grove, water resistant- purchased from a flooring store not the big box hardware store. No glue was used, only silicone type caulk on the outer perimeter. I shot a few finish nails on smaller boards to ensure they were secure. I think I used an 1/8” gap on outer perimeter. Have had no issues with buckling or lifting and have had the RV in the Rockies.

    In a home install, the quarter round is to allow for a 1/4" gap with the plank and th wall. Thus allows the planks to expand with a change in humidity and could cause the planks to buckle if no room to move. With the Allure brand of planks, is that not needed?

    We also have the same year and layout. Our carpet is starting to come unstuck to the floor near the galley cabinet. I was thinking of pulling up the carpet but was wondering does the vinyl part of the floor continue all the way to the couch or does it end a few inches inside the border? Beautiful job you did in my opinion. Thanks for any feedback.

      debi Risley Hi Debi, Yes, the factory vinyl is under the entire coach. During manufacturing, the vinyl was the first item to be installed over the subfloor. - Chris

    What is a quarter round?

    • @julietdoty6502
      @julietdoty6502 7 лет назад

      Quarter round is a trim piece similar to base shoe which would be used in front of a baseboard.

    Great look. Can you elaborate more about why and where to put the fabricated z strip? Any other detailed information about dealing with the slide would also be appreciated. I am looking to do something like this in our same year and model rv. Also, where did you buy your flooring.

    • @julietdoty6502
      @julietdoty6502 8 лет назад

      Hello - I will answer your why question first. The slide on these rvs are designed to ride over the carpet. To fully remove the carpet, you would have to remove the slide which would involve removing trim around the slide and building a cradle for the slide to come out onto (in my opinion a very time consuming task). So the z strip is a solution for this. It keeps the remaining carpet out of site and keeps the carpet held down so the slide can move back and forth over it. It has been over a year since the install (slide and floor working great) so I might be off on my dimensions - I recommend making the z stip 1.5" by 1/8" by 1.5" (as viewed from the side) and run it the length of the entire slide under the couch. The vertical leg of the z is 90 degrees. One 1.5" portion of the z holds the carpet down out of site and the other 1.5" portion will be under your new flooring. I forget the gauge of steel I used but ensure it is thick enough so it is rigid. Secure with low profile wood screws every 6 inches or so. I bought the flooring from a flooring store. It is 1/4" by I think 6 inches and water resistant. After a year, I am very happy with it.

      I just found this video. Great job on the install. We just purchased a used Navion with the same floorplan and plan to do the floor as well. I really like how you used the Z strip to capture the carpet. When installing the new flooring over the z strip, did you have to secure the floor down to the strip (adhesive or screws) or does it float over the strip? Again, awesome job!

      Darren Smith Thank you for the response. I just ran a beed of black caulk over the wood floor butting up against the z channel. I did not glue the floor but do remember shooting a few small boards with a trim nail gun(not many). The floor is caulked anywhere it butts up to cabinetry. The floor has held up well and we have not had any lifting.

    I would continue the same floor into the bathroom. Make it flow, will look larger, etc

    • @julietdoty6502

      Thank you for your reply. I agree with you. I ran out of material right at the door to the bathroom so I thought that would be a good place to stop. The way I ran the boards would be easy to continue. We thought of doing a marnoleum floor in the bathroom as it is more waterproof near the shower area. To do the job right, I would remove the toilet and toiletet flange. I would then install the new flooring with a new toilet flange on top. I do not think I will tackle this job because I feel the way it is now has the least amount of possibility of water getting underneath the flooring. Our biggest concern on this project was to get rid of the dirt trapping carpet and put something down that looked better.
