The mission of Springfield Submission Society is to provide a family-friendly, safe and competitive environment to learn and practice the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Springfield. Our goal is to create an environment where students can build their Jiu-Jitsu skills- standing and on the ground, in the Gi (traditional uniform), and without it. All classes are structured so that a student at any age or fitness level can acquire a skill and get a good workout. In a short time, our students have quickly evolved into confident martial artists who have taken their skills and applied them to the various aspects of their lives.

How long would it take to get to black belt (for kids)
Depends when you started and how long you have been doing it! If you're a top skill, you CAN be awarded a black belt by 19 based on IBJJF.
I'm 11 and i'm a gray belt with 2 stripes but I did stop because of covid, although i'm might start soon and if I do i'll make sure i'm going to your gym!

I don't know a ton of ppl who keep their shirts on when they fight. They all know the hockey cover and fight a lot. If you street fight anyways, where I live, you won't have a shirt to grab on.

Hand grips! This is a Gi variation. For no Gi, you have to make necessary changes for it to be as effective!

What if they this hooks in and take your back?
In reality, this is a fast throw originally from judo, so you wont have time to sink in your hooks unless its done poorly.
In addition to that, while you are performing this technique, cus the fulcrum on your training partner’s triceps, it would be difficult for him to perform a good back take, unless he’s willing to dislocate his elbow or shoulder…. even if he tries to put his hooks on your hip, the leverage kinda break his arm first so……
Looks all fun and games but i think this transition is abit to long and would be less affective when in a real fight and pull this off its more efficient to grab the arms quicker and pull back instead of this it looks great just dont see this as an alternative or being successful?
Techniques such as this one are mostly for sport/competition. In a real fight, its a completely different dynamic. We will be posting some real fight techniques in the future so keep an eye out for them!
