Well, I looked at your footage. Blacks are nice but the colours look over saturated to be honest. It had an overcorrected look like what comes from using gimmicky built in look filters, though likely it was grading in this case. Can you paste something more natural looking all around? Secondly your complaint about needing ND’s for 12,800 base on the FX3. Man did you ever use Cine EI on FX3? Low light scenes is what it is built for! You set the EI for 6400 or 3200. And bring back overexposure in post for super-rich blacks and good highlights that are not crappy if you do it right. Clearly, you did not do this or may have not attained the best use out of your FX3. That said the Lumix steady shot functions and Open Gate ratios (though quality drops), anamorphic friendly options are great. But did you mention the tremendous lag between using BM Video Assist to record Braw that makes audio recordings next to useless without going double system sound? You like your new camera but it’s not “better” than the FX3, it’s different. You like the look, others like the more natural and cinematic look of the FX3 straight out of the camera better. Personal taste in the end. But before you buy you should compare. If I was shooting a music video I’d probably pick the Lumix. Producer ask for Sony’s which is another reason I am sticking with the FX3. Oh, the FX3 also outputs Braw in the next update. As far as cost the Lumix offers great value, but if people want to step up to an FX6/FX9/Burano/Venice it would be better to take your exceedingly fast AF Sony FF GM lenses with them as their career deepens. No such path for the Lumix as of yet.

I really liked this short. I personally would have used more establishing shoots and some more wide shoots here and there, but it is a choice, because as it is it has a more claustrophobic feel. Keep up the good work

I can’t understand who told all of you that Sony has good ibis… It’s TERRIBLE comparing to lumix/canon/nikon Sony ibis can’t be any good cuz e-mount was designed for apsc, not FF. there is no room for lens to move around so how it can be well performing?

I just sold my FX30 for the S5ii. But, that was after researching and watching a lot of videos comparing the two. I started filmmaking with the GH5; which I actually shot a feature film with. I went to Sony for the AF. But now with the S5ii/x, autofocus is not an issue anymore. I’m pretty excited. Great music, by the way.

Boutta sell my FX30 and grab this camera. I do a lot of handheld tho… how has rolling shutter performance affected your shooting? Is it just something that we, as stupid perfectionists creators, obsess over?

all lumix needs is s5iii with z6iii specs. im a r6ii user. i like lumix stabilization. good video.

Just wanna say thank you! I had difficulty deciding between the FX3 and the S5IIX. I almost went for the much more expensive FX3. But this video showed me that you don't need the most expensive thing to get stunning shots. I think I'll go for the S5IIX.

Interesting. A good point about the 2nd base ISO. It would be great if cameras had 3 base ISOs:-) as everyone's needs can vary so much. One advantage of a very high base is that we have the option of stopping down when needed. I know everyone likes to shoot wide open most of the time these days, but this might not always bee appropriate, so at least when it is set very high we have a choice. I personally hate using NDs, and think internal ND's should be standard on any videocentric camera.

lol funny thing is due to SEO this video would not do these numbers if the fx3 wasn't in the title. And I swear people love to bash a tool other people have success and love for when they don't know how to use it. Like people need to learn to color grade and properly frame and do story telling before they die on the sword of any camera brand. But you cannot deny that someone like Dany Gevirtz doesn't have some of the best shot videos on all of RUclips with his fx3. And even with his stuff shot on Nikon he showed that he is the difference maker but still shows why he trust the fx3. Anyway your title got me to click it and I read the comments and just felt like "damn the Lumix fans gotta be under represented cause they are hating hella hard"

I'm with you. We switched from Canon to Sony to BMD and now to the S5iix. S5iix is almost perfect. I am excited for the S1H, BS1H, and EVA updates. I'm hopeful that they make a full frame EVA with ND.

Internal image processing is better on the S5ii, and the 6k gives you a little more IQ to work with overall.

Love the Twilight Zone intro, mate. I have the xh2s and I bought the original S5 for £700… and I’m selling the Fuji. The Fuji, whilst on paper may have superior specs, I do feel like there’s more to the story. I feel like the original S5 has a very organic and filmic image. As for the xh2s, I feel like the image is a bit too over-sharpened and digital. I don’t use Af much for my video work, so it’s perfect for me.

Been on Sony for 3 years and your video and the way you showcased the camera inspired me to switch back. Do you have an opinion on dehancer vs DaVinci Film Color Tool?
