I Regret This Purchase (Kershaw Livewire)
Well...here we are, regretting a gear purchase - I am sure none of you have ever done that, right??
In all seriousness, I think this knife is a great purchase for someone who wants an OTF and doesnt want to spend the same amount of money it takes to acquire a Microtech - now, with that being said, if you are someone who uses your knife as a work tool on a daily basis to all things and everythings, I cant say I recommend this. While this is NOT for me, I do know people who carry OTF's as their daily carry and have no complaints. Maybe if I wasnt so used to my Osborune, Bugout, Mini Crooked, etc then I would like this more, but with the lifestyle I live - its not for me.

The Best EDC Knife (Benchmade Osbourne)
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.3 месяца назад
In the world of everyday carry, especially for an outdoorsman or someone who likes being prepared for anything life throws at you, having a good knife is a must. In my opinion, the Benchmade 940 is hands down the best EDC knife you can own. It's tried and true, tested, reliable, a workhorse and it just looks freakin' good. This is a knife I will own for the rest of my life, God Willing I dont l...
Kershaw Livewire Review (First Thoughts)
Просмотров 2725 месяцев назад
We're back with another blade video - but if you watched the EDC Knife video, then you know why. I specifically mentioned that I wanted to purchase the Kershaw Livewire as my EDC OTF upgrade, and obviously based on this video title, I did just that. This knife is a great American made OTF knife especially for the price and the category that it sits in along side names like Benchmade & Microtech...

The Magellan Gear Box - an absolute banger of a go box when it comes to keeping your gear dry, safe and protected when you're sending it on a hunting or fishing trip. This box is clearly a direct competitor build to the high end Yeti Go Box or Yeti Load Out but for a much smaller hole in your pocket. It's all just personal preference. I personally love the small clip on my Livewire and absolutely hate the big bulky clip on the Microtech. I like looking at the knife not a big clip lol and maybe you got a defect because mine hasn't failed on me yet.

    I'd rather have the Livewir and a good watch, than no Livewire and an expensive watch. I've seen extreme use videos on the Livewire and certainly wouldn't box it in as just some novelty knife. But hey, it's your money so get what YOU want. That's what counts.

  • @jeffomalley100

    The problem is you'll never get your money back on it if you paid the $260 since you can buy them right now brand new for less on blade hq with a free wallet/satchel.

    Definitely sounds more like an OTF issue than a Livewire issue. Automatics were designed for a time when manuals were largely two handed and rough. Modern manuals have made them mostly irrelevant.

      Very accurate comment. Yes, I agree with this. It just happens my OTF experience was with this one..and to be fair, the knife is fine, although after handling a few of the new microtechs, I dont think they’re are AS good but…for the price, it is solid for what it is, especially comparing prices to the new MT’s.

    Just got the knife and i absolutely love it, the clip is a very simple fix, put a playing card in between the clip and the grip and take a scraper, put it between the clip and the card and gently lift the scraper about a 16th of an inch and Bam works perfectly, i also like the size because it hides the fact that its a bigger knife.

    I do love the 940, but arguing it's the best is dishonest. The blade shape makes it significantly worse at a lot of day-to-day tasks, especially food prep. Best isn't your favorite, or a great knife that does most things well. Best is best. I don't know if I could actually come up with a specific knife to label as the best, but it ain't the 940. Because of how shallow the blade's height is, you get significantly less life out of the blade with sharpening. It almost immediately gets way thicker behind the edge after reprofiling a couple times. It's still overpriced compared to the competition and S30V as the only standard steel choice is ridiculous when you can get 63+ HRC Magnacut knives for the same price or even cheaper. Additionally, the omega springs are a weak point regardless of what people say. They do break, and if they do your lock is disabled until you can tear down the knife, which is another con. Benchmade Axis lock knives are a pain to maintain and teardown/put back together.

    • @BHFHCO
      @BHFHCO 3 месяца назад

      Totally do not disagree with you here - this is and always will be just my opinions on the gear I own. I have owned a lot of knives, and I dont consider this to be the best edc because it is my favorite, it is my favorite because it is the best edc knife that I have owned to date. I agree the price is nuts on this, and I didnt realize until shooting the video how much it has gone up, as I mentioned in the video. For maintaince, me sending this knife off once in the last 3 years to get fully re-serviced and sharped for $11 is a big win in owning something I intend to own forever. At the end of the day, any knife that has a clip and can open and close / cut your object is a knife that works the same as any other.
