+Shivank Sharma Everyone listening to him didn't realize he was telling the story of Carl Lee's daughter and when he said "now imagine she's white" it got everyone to realize that her color shouldn't have mattered to begin with. She was an innocent child and those two men deserved what they got. I think at 4:12 he imagined his own daughter in the same situation and he realize he would have done the same thing Carl Lee did.

Bullshit!! I hate this movie. Let me get this out of the way the rapist deserved to die. YES! They did, but my point is his argument is all sentimental and bullshit. He's arguing for temporary insanity, but wanting revenge on rapists that raped your daughter is RATIONAL!! This movie justifies vengeance and blinds people with a message about a racist message. Samuel L Jackson shouldn't have just got away with it. It's total bullshit. Captain America please put Nick Fury in his place

+Marvin Tran I agree that his deposition was based off pure sentiment, however I think it served its purpose in demonstrating the obvious but unsaid and underlying racial bias that was prevalent in this community and more importantly in the jury against Sam Jackson's character regardless of what he did. I do agree with you that it justifies vengeance which I also think is wrong, however one could argue that living in such a prejudiced community likely lead Sam Jackson's character to the assumption that the men responsible would not adequately be dealt with by the local authorities who held similar prejudices which compounded his already sensitive emotional state due to the situation. Just sayin. =)

haha did it a long time ago. The problem is really with US society. I live in Brazil, so we got basically every race around here, and all mixed up. We got some social problems, of course, lower classes are composed mostly by blacks. But again, seeing the guy in the video saying "imagine she was white" sounds like a lame racist joke, it's REALLY unbelievable to me.

It isn't serious for almost all of us. A very small portion of the community is completely obsessed, and the media(movie, news, etc) is part of that small community. When I heard, "now imagine she is white", I could only think, "And? That changes nothing". For almost everyone I know, that changes nothing. Then again we care about people and not groups.

If you've watch the film, they don't punish the rapists, arguably due to the victim's colour. This leads to the father killing them, and this scene is from the trial on the father.
