I always thought this was sung by Ian McNamara for Australia All Over. I'm sure I heard it on that program back then, and I know it's on one of my Nanna's Australia All Over tapes. I'll have to read the liner notes and check. I wish I could find Greg Champion's Cricket album, because I think I heard that album as a young child.

wE DIDN'T KNOW, IN REAL CRICKET, the game had a runner at both ends. We'd never watched it on telly, always outside playing, climbing trees, making cubby-huts, throwing mud-pies, (I'd found the ash dust from inside fireplace, was "just add water" & it'll make 'instant' mud to throw. It DID! AND, I'd hit little brother for 1st time, right in his eye, but (Murphy's Law) it made acid mud & nearly burnt his eye out. The kid from up the road, stopped playing, in our backyard, to go home to his place, to watch B&W TV cricket! We couldn't believe it. It'd be like watching "grass grow", or 'paint dry'.Excellente song.
