Dont know when someone will be able to play sitar like ustad vilayat khan . His absence is still fells very unfilled even after so many young sitarists arrived . But he was something different , he thinks of the kind of variations which nobody could . And his hand is something which still nobody can make even in a lifetime

What you learn sitar from Vilayat Khan, you may not get out of any one else. Singing is logical speed, asylum go faster, you sound like talking after imbibing helium. I play sitar and sing and practice with helium. Now I see differance. My virtual guru is vilayat Khan where sitar sounds like sitar with beautiful chikari and not like guitar. Normally Vilayat Sab emphasise more on technical aspects of Sitar compared to Ragdari but here he shows how brilliantly he can present the Ragdari also Apart from being the emperor of sitar he is a true bharat ratna but as usual we failed to honor him

This is the only miyan ki todi on sitar I have heard. It’s played with such deep affection and love that it will take one’s mind and soul away to the place it is intended to. I loved every minute of the mellow resonance of sitar from the great maestro’s sitar. Thank you for uploading and sharing.

They say, Raag Shree resurrects corpses! One of the Adi ragas originated from Mahadevi. Rest five are originated from Shiva. This rendition proves it! astonishing rendition

Commercial CD recorded in USA and marketed by an Indian co which stopped business after couple of years or so. Bought it in early nineties from Bharathiya Bidya Bhavans shop at west Kensington in London. This recording is pretty good and through AirPlay is of CD quality. It’s a masterpiece. Seldom had Khan Sahib played with such introspection

Absolutely transcendent! Could someone please provide details of recording? What year is this from....guessing mid 70's? Was this ever available as a vinyl recording, and if so what label? Discogs has very little information on Ustad Vilayat Khan.
