Snake River Falls Removal and a new for 2026 COASTER at Cedar Point!
Cedar Point is retiring Snake River Falls after 31 years of operation. This opens up a new plot of land in Frontier Town, an area of the park that desperately needs a high capacity roller coaster. Of course being the Coaster Serpent, I advocate for a snake themed ride! See what I recommend Cedar Point add for the 2026 season!

Knoebels Amusement Resort - Restoring Old Rides and Preserving Thrills!

Most parks just buy a ride and plop it down somewhere. Knoebels does things differently; they are looking to restore classic attractions and bring an old timey experience to a new generation. This makes them unique in the industry, and their rides deliver some of the best experiences out there.
Stricker's Grove - MASSIVE airtime offered on a tight schedule!

Open to the public only on select days of the year, Stricker's Grove offers some of the most illusive coaster credits in the state of Ohio. The Tornado may have some of the most intense airtime I have ever experienced. I highly recommend this small park which typically operates only for private events, but does open to the public a few times a year, such as during the Hamilton County Fair.

Loose Article Policies Need To Change at Major Amusement Parks!

Safety regulations are often written in blood, and enough blood has been spilt at amusement parks over loose articles. It is time for major parks to ban phones, keys, wallets, ect on guests entering lines for major attractions. Every passholder and ticketed guest should be provided a locker, free of any extra charge, and movable, for their valuables going forward. This follows a grisly accident...

    I like your suggestion of how to redesign the queue. On my visits, the tunnel would always be very stuffed with people, then the 2 lines after metal detection would always be overflowing. So even if you're able to walk straight into the tunnel through fast lane or the regular line, it's a 45-minute wait. I also noticed, through experience, that the line for people who didn't need a locker has a longer length to it, and it was always full. My friend went into that line, while I went to the lockers & that inside line, and with both lines full, I was riding 5 trains before him, and then the ride broke down before he got to ride. When both lines are full, just pretend you need a locker, even if you don't. Walk to the lockers, then turn around and go to the metal detectors. You will be riding sooner. You're welcome. In regards to Gemini, it has been my saving grace. While everything is over an hour, Magnum included, Gemini would be 15-20 minutes. But one thing I've noticed about Cedar Point, they HATE to even have a ride that doesn't have under an hour wait. They would rather remove a ride or leave it closed than operate a ride with a reasonable wait. It hasn't always been this way at this park. This is more of a new thing in the last 5 years or so, and it's made trips to Cedar Point far less enjoyable than it used to be.

    I agree with the safety concerns but not with requiring riders to store belongings in lockers before they get in line. Velicoaster at Universal and Tron at Disney have lockers at the end of the queue, just before you enter the station. This way you can have your phone with you in line and then store it when it's time to ride. Nobody wants to wait an hour or more without their phone. They have attendants ensuring guests don't bring loose articles onto the ride with this system as well. And the lockers are double-sided so you exit on the opposite side and retrieve your belongings. All the advantages of lockers without forcing people to part with their phones.

    • @TheCoasterSerpent
      @TheCoasterSerpent Месяц назад

      I am looking at this from the perspective of my home park, Cedar Point. Universal and Disney work like well oiled machines, Cedar Point has consistent staffing issues. I do not believe that park would be able to staff many of their rides during the spring and fall seasons when their seasonal labor isn't available. Another problem with that is space and redesigning existing line queues. They have done a poor job with this in the past with Steel Vengeance, and their implementation of in line lockers on that ride leaves a lot to be desired. Metal Detection often can't get guests thru fast enough, resulting in dispatches with empty rows while lines are over an hour long. That is why I suggest just giving attendants at the entrances to lines wands, and with instructions to yell out locker instructions to guests coming and stopping those who obviously have phones and other stuff on them.

  • @GoodEnoughEngineering
    @GoodEnoughEngineering Месяц назад

    Steel vengeance "SteVe" has lockers you can pay for across from the entry way of the queue. I support the use of upcharge lockers. We go for 12-13 hour days in just about every park we go to. The only thing on me is the unlimited drink wrist band, a locker wristband (depending on the park), and a credit card in a zipped or buttoned pocket. The person I normally go with, we are normally on our phone all day type of people, so going to the park and leaving them locked up for hours is kind of nice to be honest.

      I have a better experience when I use the paid lockers rather than the free in line lockers. TT2 made me realize that metal detecting at the entrance to rides was the way to go. Folks. Fast pass doesn’t mean front of line. The line design doesn’t matter It is the number of people in line. Metal detectors take time. I had a metal belt buckle and got the wand. The wand is the issue. Just rode it 6 times last week. Do a take about maverick. That is the worst I have ever experienced plus it breaks every few hours and screws the people waiting

    • @TheCoasterSerpent
      @TheCoasterSerpent Месяц назад

      The fast lane join being so far back is a minor annoyance, but all the same it is the furthest back join in the park for really no good reason. The main issue, and the reason for the video is the constant dispatches with empty rows due to metal detection not getting guests through fast enough. Also, the area around metal detection is a nightmare with people trying to go every which way, jostling by to get to and from the lockers. See the diagrams in the video. Maverick has been terrible this year, with even the fast lane getting over a 30 min wait. The capacity is terrible on that ride.

    • @RNC-7-15
      @RNC-7-15 Месяц назад

      @@TheCoasterSerpent I understand. I do believe it is the metal detector placement. When I rode last week there were no empty seats on trains. Maybe just inexperienced staff at detectors. It is confusing at detectors but that didn’t create empty seats. There are at least 100 or more people after detectors waiting in line. And fast pass doesn’t mean first in line. I get it is back aways but for those of us regular paying people. It works out fine. Gatekeeper is not to the front either. If you are advocating for fast pass to the front. That is a different argument. I was there three days so I saw it all. I paid for one time fast pass only to find out only 50 folks were in line on Stevie at that time. So I got a bit annoyed. And you don’t even mention that right lane as you go up steps holds twice as many people. So right lane gets screwed. If you didn’t notice that. You are not a seasoned rider. Sorry. My two cents. Maverick is still the suckiest ride wait in the whole park. Broke every single day and one day the ride was closed most of the day. After we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes in line. I love the ride. Hate the wait

      This is my home park, and what I see quite often. I don't mention the left line, because that line extends into the locker area with the guests waiting to get to metal detection from using the lockers. They seem to want to keep the left side for in line locker guests and the right line for those not needing them, though I don't believe there is anything keeping you from hopping over to the other line.

    do you know where you do NOT HEAR about lose articles? Island's of Adventure and Universal Studios!. Cedar Fair needs to adopt this 1- lockers need to be free and large enough to hold Fannie packs, cell phones and keys for riders. 2- this needs to be enforced by a ride attendant Once people know what to expect with no loose articles, they will abide and honestly, i didn't miss the articles while waiting. Furthermore, the one thing i have always been afraid of losing, my keys, i have never actually had happen but would be horrified to experience. Steel Force at Dorney Park has a unique bin system with shelves that coincide with which train you are riding. A shelf for the red train, one for the blue train, and one for the black train, and most of the time Steel Force is two train ops. Once the guests put their belongings on the shelf that coincides with their train, the ride attendants slides the door that is covering the train that is approaching the final brakes, to the train that is about to leave the station. As someone who worked at Six Flags New England last season as a ride operator while I was attending technical school in the area, I can tell you how many times people still lost their phones due to them being so dumb enough to take it out after the train has left the station, thinking that the operators and attendants wouldn't notice. I can stress enough of how the security team must have felt overwhelmed of getting reports from ops saying that guests were taking phones out mid ride or jumping the fences to retrieve lost items. One such case last year at that same park while I was attending as a guest, when I was about to get in line for Wicked Cyclone they had to shut the ride down due to someone jumping the fence to retrieve a season pass card, YES, A SEASON PASS CARD WHILE YOU CAN ALSO HAVE IT ON YOUR PHONE, like, you had to shut the ride down just for a card for your season pass which you can have through your phone.

    Great idea!! It seems that just having signs aren't enough. And not having to pay for a locker each time would [hopefully] deter those who feel inconvenienced from ignoring those rules. Those who are on the rides when these things happen have mental scars forever as well, and someone other than the parties witness to these horrific events need to be made aware of how dangerous this has gotten, and how bold and "safe" people think they are. One vid about this alleged that the man was warned not to go through, entered through an employee door, and was struck. If this is so, ALL DOORS ACCESSING THE RESTRICTED AREAS OF THE RIDE NEED TO BE LOCKED DURING OPERATION.(emphasized only.) Regardless, those employees have to deal with that for the rest of their lives as well. Its a loss for all involved.

Its there right before you load to put your stuff in just before you board, then it rotates so no one can get to your stuff, and it allows for the next train. Then its on the exit side of the platform when you pull back in so you can grab your stuff. The person said "oh so just like Yukon Striker?" Its perfect. I do too, and have never lost anything; I just can't expect every guest to walk into the park with zipped pockets. People are more concerned with fashion rather than function. I see people walking around at parks all the time with flip flops and clothes not suitable for the occasion.

      Though in line lockers can work well, it requires a very elaborate system with lots of employees and can be implemented extremely poorly, as in the case of steel vengeance. I like the idea of out of line queue lockers, without strict timers, so one can marathon a ride without going to them after each ride. I would just give the attendants at ride entrances wands, tell them to shout instructions about using lockers when people are approaching, and throw out anyone not following the policy. That seems simpler to me. As for BGT, last time I visited, a phone flew out of someone's pocket and hit the side of the train not even 2 feet from where I was sitting. I just don't care for the pouch system. Cedar Point tried it on Steel Vengeance with hand stamps to mark guests that needed to use them. It was slow as all hell.

    The best policy for loose articles is have zipable pouches on the underside of the seat one u zipper it after u lowered the harnesses it is impossible to take them out again till the ride stops

      I believe that is what Iron Gwazi does, and this year I attended BGT and someone took out their phone, lost it, and it hit the side of the train 2 feet from where I was seated. Steel Vengeance once did this too and it was a fiasco for Cedar Point. Its a shame because stuff like that looks good on paper and with responsible people.

      @@billchief397 That was the only year they did those. Now, they have lockers mid line where the fast lane used to be, with the fast lane merge point about 20 mins back in the main queue assuming 3 train ops and fast dispatches. Rode it opening weekend and made the mistake of riding in the last seat. Totally agree.....needs new restraints ... at the very least. Those transitions in the track are violently brutal to the head/neck area and you absolutely cannot brace for it. I'm glad you enjoyed the park. I love the place and visit regularly from 5 hours away. Been going there since they built the Hoosier Hurricane. Cornball Express IS the coaster gem of the park with it's airtime filled rump above and around the kiddieland area. The classic traditional amusement park atmosphere there can be mesmerizing in the evening. An inland boardwalk amusement park on a beautiful lake in the middle of cornfields in north central Indiana. Thank you Tom Spackman and now Gene Staples.

    Another thing that is asinine at Cedar Point is the access pass. My wife loves the roller coasters and just last weekend we went and she wanted to ride Steel Vengeance. They write your boarding time down and add whatever the current wait time is after that so it was 2 hours. We proceeded to wait and tried to get her on two trains and the ride ops said let's get this block off for extra leg room to get her in .. The ride ops got the key stuck, called maintenance and the train was put out of service for the rest of the day, come to find out that they only have ONE copy of the key which I told the supervisor is just dumb because now she can't get her on ANY of the trains... So I told my wife, I love you and I'll help her on every ride except Steel Vengeance.... I just don't want to get involved in that malarkey mess again so that I don't say anything that will get me ejected from the park. I think that to make the loose article policy fair for everyone, no cellphones should be permitted at Cedar Point period! And the restrooms are so outdated it's not funny. Back in 2019 when Tony Clark hosted the celebration video for everything that was supposed to happen in 2020, I asked about renovations to restrooms and was made fun of. Everyone says oh that's just Tony, well I'm sorry but in my personal experience from meeting him he is not a very nice person.

    The part you didn’t mention is how they try to scam a few extra dollars off you by scaring people into paying for a locker before entering the line. If I remember correctly there is no clear statement that free lockers are available in the line queue.

    I respect the Lose article policy at these parks, matter fact they need to enforce this policy on every coaster well!!! the more extreme one's. I remember losing my car keys on superman ultimate flight and great adventure, all because I decided to place my car keys in my jacket button pocket and some how, they manage to fall out and I think they fell out during the bottom of the pretzel loop. The ride ops told us that we would have to wait for the park to close and someone will go back and check but, I used to be a ride op decades ago so I knew these new breeds of ride ops was not going to do no such thing. After waiting almost 2 hours in the ran for another friend to head back to the park and pick us up, I had to leave my car in the parking lot, go to the dealership the next day and get a new key fob which cost me $200, and ever since then, I purchase a locker and place EVERTHING in it. Lesson learned. I do like velocicoaster locker system, it's pretty efficient. Steel Vengeance whole queue system if horrible and I dreed it every time I get in line ugghhh. I skipped it last year because of the long wait time, downtime and f**** up queue locker system.

    First off it takes one bonehead to ruin it for everyone which has already happened. 2. CP is liable period. If they weren’t then you would be able to take whatever you want on the ride. 3. CP knows that due to the intensity of the ride anything on a person is LIABLE to fly off! CP tells you this before even entering the line. Plan accordingly!?!?! 🤦🏻‍♂️ o and the metal detectors yea they do what they are supposed to do. Metal belt buckles yup. Piercings visible and none visible yup.
