Arigato Gozaimus. From Sydney Australia.
Love it all, fabulous,
Sounds like something the Japanese would sing to celebrate conquering another country and enslaving its people. Are there any Chinese, Filipino, or Korean people out there who agree with me?
17/6/2024 thank you

Enjoyed playing but nothing to do with shina no yotu.
I was just a little girl, when my mom was singing this song everyday, then I learned it . She said during WW II the Japanese tought them in school.
Rrrrrrrrrrr4rrrrrrr
I spent 2 months attending the Kodokan in Japan 1961 while in the USAF. Tried to find this song/record to no avail - Glad it's readily available here. Domo

The best version thank you Kenny and rest in peace.
Lived in Japan in early '50's. This was very popular. So glad to hear it again. Thank you!
Beautiful artwork! Loved this song for a very long time.
Spent 5 years in Japan and learned a few songs in Japanese. Shina no Yoru was my favorite.
Ngọc Minh hát rất hay
...mổi lần nghe bản này là nhớ đến rạp ciné Tân Đô ở Long Xuyên, lúc đó khoảng 1957 !

It's not Paul Mauriat. This is the version of Pandana
Always been drawn to this family favorite.
I am a retired physician in Iowa. When I was three going on four years old my teacher mother brought me along to her first grade class in Mankayan, Mt. Province, Philippines, when a Japanese patrol entered the classroom. They were very polite and very respectful to my mother as they bowed, addressing her "sensei" (teacher). They taught us some patriotic songs but the haunting melody of Shina No Yoru has lingered in me ever since. Of course, all the pleasantry ended when the American forces landed in the Philippines.
Where ever American force lands, pleasentry ends, history teaches us this fact.
For my grandma the japanese occupation was hell , maybe because you were a westerner thats why you got a better treatment but i leave in the mountain in the visayas my american neighbor set up a refuge for our people during ww2 , women had been raped and their body mutilated
@@novaangelica5096 It really depend on the person whose running the place. In my grandmother's case, she grew up in Sarawak, Borneo Island, and the Japanese soldiers, especially the pilots, treat her well. Some of them said she reminded of their little siblings back home in Japan. They even smuggled food from their ration and gave to her.
@@AlexSDU they were actually some good japanese soldiers , but not most of them , lets not forgot that 30 million died under Japan's rule in asia
They were always there . My uncle Ray was there and gave his life in the defense of his beloved Philippine people. I went there as well to help / protect the Philippine people who we both loved
Beautiful
Thank you
Aah!! So beautiful no matter who sings this!! Reminds me when I was a very young girl! So many happy memories!!
I grew with this in the '40s, my Mother had an old 78 record. Kyu Sakamoto made a popular version in the early '60s, I might have been stationed at Washington Heights in Toyko Japan at the time.
Reminds me of wonderful times in kumagaya, Japan. I could smell the beautiful air coming from area at night. very romantic.
