When they went all in for Trump. had VP Pence speak at Past Annual Conference. The Clergy Sex Abuse Coverup. Lack of financial Transperancy. The list goes on and On..

    The SBC has gone from over 16 million to Just Under 13 million members. It is large as far as Protestant Churches. They are tiny when compared to Catholics who have over 61 Million members in the United States. In 2023 the the SBC lost 241,000 members and lost 292 churches

    As a SBC member (and deacon), I watched this video because I wanted to see what we (and me personally) are doing wrong. Nothing meaningful and concrete was discussed here. I do feel like I love my congregation and my fellow (female) heirs in Christ, but maybe I'm not showing it. How can I do this? I guess I will have to look elsewhere.

    • @thetensionpodcast

      We are primarily speaking to the Law Amendment coming forth in the SBC. We have leaders more concerned about passing this clarifying (and right) point vs. spending time dealing with abuse of women in the local church. I think we can work to find a both/and solution.

    You sure this is about mistreatment of women and not a cognitive dissonance between a church's commitment to God's order of patriarchy, as the Bible and all church history endorse, and the feminism in which we all swim in the modern Western culture? Because I'm pretty sure it's about feminism.

    Constructive criticism: this was a very meandering 10 minutes that seemed to say, "We respect church leadership, but they mistreat women, and we cannot articulate exactly how, and we cannot articulate how they can do better. They just need to focus more on love than truth." But this is just my take.

    • @stryker5573
      @stryker5573 9 месяцев назад

      Usually how it goes when women get a voice over others in the church. Lots of feelings being discussed. Correct me if I am wrong, but Jesus never mentioned feelings, only truth, obedience, and loving your neighbors as yourself.

    Tim, thanks for sharing this wisdom and insight. There seems to be this tension between the ideal self and the real self. As believers, we are called to be good stewards and faithful to the work God has given us. At the same time, we are fragile sinners who fail to live up to our own expectations. This is no excuse, but just a reminder for why we need the grace and forgiveness of our Lord Jesus Christ every day. Blessings to you brother!

    His boss was correct. Corporations have taken advantage of the hard work ethics of generations past. They’ve taken the profit and left a fair amount of social ruin in its wake. Now the new generations know there is no loyalty. They refuse to value the “company time”over their own time. The distribution of wealth is lopsided in an unsustainable way toward those who add no value to the economy. There needs to be a realignment somewhere.
