Lol, let me explain something to you sea of thieves neanderthals that you dont seem to understand, sometimes people dont enjoy fighting other players and want to play with other people cooperatively. GTA has this same sort of system and had it for awhile with freemode activities being locked to public lobbies only, once they removed that restriction... Guess what happened? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, pve players got what they wanted, and pvp players had more fun because they didnt have to get bored fighting people who didnt want to anymore, and all the dedicated pvp players got to fight people who actually wanted to fight! It was one of the best changes they ever could have made, and I reckon it would be the same for this game. Although, with the lack of content and meaningful things to do, pve players will leave long before pvp players do, like I did.

Makes me wonder why there are no weapons aboard, surely a ship of that size would have had a security force on board and even if they didn't survive the crash, the others on board could have used the weapons. (I know the pda says no weapons, but that's purely in the 3d printing for survival purposes, that doesn't mean the crew wouldn't have had weapons.)

I wish this game would stop giving in to whiney players that don't actually want a pirate game. Stop trying to cater to different audiences. It's going to make you mediocre in both categories rather than being great in one. So pathetic to see ppl calling other players toxic for fighting in a PVP PIRATE GAME.

I think Greymarrow’s mentality is brutal for an actual pirate, since historically they weren’t actually THAT violent and combative, but within the context of the game itself, his mentality makes sense, because as much as SoT tries to convince you that stealing is bad and you should always be friends with other players, they nevertheless made an experience that constantly encourages conflict and selfishness between players (sometimes actually goading players to battle each other with world events like Burning Blade and Forts of Fortune that only really pay out if your crew pulls it off alone). That’s not a bad thing, as it makes the game a very unique social experience and the moments of connection are all the more valuable for it; it’s just weird that there is a disconnect between what the game actually is versus what it preaches. It’s like the game is dissuading actual piracy irl while creating an environment that is MORE merciless than irl piracy lol
