Sprue Goons Podcast - 2023 Wrapped (Our hobby highlights & fails)
That actually looks really good, imo. I don't love painting and so don't have a lot of time for it either, stuff like this makes a massive difference, thanks!
I'm going to see wtf apothecary white looks. Like over a darker base color or a metallic color and see what it may be useful for.
Any way you could do some more metallic contrast paints? I bought the. Brazen copper one because of Your vids and I'm stoked on it.
Dude, these contrast paint videos have been such a Gigantic help for me. Im extremely greatful. Thanks dude!
Damn i thought this was a video on trying flocking paint as a primer 😅
👍🏻
I usually do this, base color, then orange, then zenithal highlight. Then contrast. Looks better
Why does the model look fuzzy?
Skin colors plsss!!
Nice dude show me more instant sub :D
Made a bronze like hue to it or go from a true yellow gold to a rose gold
I will never not love the irony in Space Wolves Grey being amazing on Grey Knights, considering the lore between the two factions lol I also found space wolves grey is really good at making swords and stuff really pop when thinned a slight bit, atleast with my cold color schemes and stuff
VR is so pink because the layer is too thin. It's much better when you you use more of it, giving dark red as result.
Does it work well for coloring metallics?
While I prefer the FT Red on white, the reason why is because the Velvet Red is too pink. But of course, Red+White+Pink, so I feel like, since it's so transparent, it would be better over grey or black
I think the shone works quire well for Eldar armor. The varnish kinda ruins it. Oh and uhhh “cracks” hehe
Amazing content .. I hate this heat too 👍🏼
Thanks so much for listening! 🙏🏻
The velvet looks pinkish rather than red
Bad primer job
👍🏻
What brush did you use for the dry brushing?
It’s an Artis Opus Series D
I use flesh tearers for my British red coats! Gives them a bit more darker look and goes on great
Nice one! 👍🏻
Yeah the 2.0 metallic speed paints are amazing.
The velvet red is alot better shaded l, with far better transitions
I use flesh tearers pretty much exclusively as gore, and let me tell you it is the easiest and best looking paint i’ve used for viscera yet
Is it any better than blood for the blood god?
Do they still have the reactivation problem that most army painter colors seem to have?.
The reactivation issue was fixed with the speedpaint 2.0 range
Посмотрев это видио я понял какую фигурку мне купить спасибо🎉
Nice one! 👍🏻
i found significantly more success with velvet on black with a grey zenithal instead of a white zenithal. that combination creates a deep red, that's very useful for capes and tabards.
Great advice. I’ll give that a go!
I think hoplite gold is my favorite gold paint tbh
Thos is definitely one of the best contrast psints ❤
Really love your channel. Your Videos really help in finding nice colors
Thanks so much! 🙏🏻
Contrast sucks
Thanks for your input 👍🏻
It's not metal.....it's mica
I think it’s both. “Metallic paints with a proprietary Al-crylic formulation (a combination of both aluminium and mica flakes) that gives you the industry's absolute best sheen.”
It's both.
I loved seeing the Tyranids helldivers paint, could you try to color them like the guys from deep rock Galactic?
That’s a great idea! I’ll see what I can do 👍🏻
Army painter's speed paints are the best IMO. The Zealot yellow is 🔥
I’ll give that one a go!
the paints may or may not be as good as they used to be but i prefer the otcagon or hexagon pots with clear plastic with the black top around 2003-2007 dont remember exactly when it stoped or started
Could I recommended Hoplite gold, Army Speed painter 2.0, for the contrast corner?
Absolutely! I’ll take a look 👍🏻
Did you add water to that
No straight from the bottle no water 👍🏻
I love paint licking and tickling 😂
I'm painting a friend Thousand Sons army and I use a very thinned down purple glaze to shade the models. It gives the blue armour a nice warp tainted look to it, and as you know looks quite nice over the gold as well
Nice one! Will give that a go 👍🏻
Can you do some colours for flesh eater courts skin tones?
Yes definitely! I’ll add some to the list 👍🏻
Very interesting! What gold did you use for the base?
It’s Dark Star Molten Metals Braid Gold 👍🏻
@@SprueGoons thank you!
I'll be taking this combo for my slaaneshi models.
Nice one! 👍🏻
Underrated af, keep up the great work and great tutorials!
Thank you so much 🙏🏻
I don't have this one. Beautiful color.
👍🏻
I never thought to try this. I have a lot of Stormcast models base coated with Retributor Armor spray, many gray as well, that were discontinued. I want to try a range of experimental painting strategies and this is a good start. I want to free myself up creatively, start thinking out of the box a bit more. Cheers
Thanks mate! Great to hear it’s useful to you 👍🏻 I’m interested to see what a bluey purple would look like!
The classic contrast paints don't work well on space marines and flat armoured panels in general. They end up leaving the model splotchy and untidy. Contrast paints excel on organic surfaces like flesh, cloth or boney armour.
Fair point well made 👍🏻
What a good color
👍🏻
This is the first one I picked up when the Contrast range first released. I love having it in my color toolbox.
Nice!
What the hell are youll even speaking about
You’ll have to be specific. Or watch the episode.
"Make sure you get it in all the cracks!" 👀
😉
Subbed for the “Cracks” joke
Haha I’ll keep them coming 😂
