      Hi Edina, making a pattern was/is a great experience and hard work. I learned sooo much. And yes, I am releasing my next pattern hopefully September 8, using the “Lacy cable pattern” idea you gave me from the first test knitting of the tree trunk sweater. 🤩Thanks you so much. 🙏 I really enjoyed the test knitting process and having you on the team helping with the pattern and improvements 😘 I have posted pictures of the new design with a V-neck on Instagram.

    I am a big fan of bold colours. My favourite knitted sweater is in fuchsia. And I think that you look gorgeous in red. Its 100% your colour. The green-tea and orange versions also look very interesting - such colours could be well-accompanied by a pair of jeans or white trousers/skirt. Red still remains my favourite.

      Fuchsia is also a lovely color 🤩 Thanks for the tips to go along with the Tees 😍 Red is also my favourite along with blue. Maybe the lime green was a bit too bold 🤣 but as you say - for a summer day with a white skirt☀️ I will give it a go 🥰

    I made a pair of slippers with your modifications and I love them. I will now make another pair but would like to have a higher shaft all the way around my ankle. Do you think it is possible to cast on some additional stitches to get a higher heel cap, without the decreases before splitting? In your video you say it is necessary with heel cap decreases, but why? If I make them higher around the ankle and decrease after splitting, do you think that will work?

    • @IngesKnittingLab
      @IngesKnittingLab 21 день назад

      Yes, Sandra. Absolutely. If you want the higher heel cap around your ancle you just have to make more decreases AFTER the ankle CO sts. Just as you propose. I only did the decreases before the ankle CO to make room for a High-ankle-foot. But later on I realized that I can just work the hole longer before do the ankle CO. I hope it makes sense.

    loose and sloppy = "droopy" in American colloquial speech; I might go down a needle size to minimize spread of the Sandnes Garn Line. How did you add structure to the linen blend swatch? You added a purl? Mohair/silk: (Shibui ) now called Madelinetosh silk cloud is soft and does not shed fibers.

    • @IngesKnittingLab
      @IngesKnittingLab Месяц назад

      Thanks, Dee. I am keen in leaning American colloquial speech 👍 Yes, I think it is a good idea to go down a needle size with Line or go down a Tee size. Yes I added a purl. It was a swatch meant to be copy a tree trunk tee. I will get some Madelinetosh silk mohair. I find it very nice that is does not shed. I have thought about people feeling the itchiness of mohair. Maybe a silk & alpaca blend will do nicely as an alternative?

      Thanks Dee 🙏😘 One of my other test knitters Eva showed my yet another way of doing the cables - still 3+1 - with less/no “see through”. I may include that in the pattern if possible without too many changes, if others prefer a cable without “holes”. I hear you with combining mohair and summer. I consider offering long sleeves to fit a winter season. However, in Denmark it is very cold and windy now even though it is summer 🤣

    It is so interesting to understand the details of your design process ! I love love love the v-neck version of your Summer Tee. I have not knit with them yet but Rowan Kid Silk Haze is softer to the touch then the Drops.

      Thank you so much 🙏🌹 The pattern will come out with the V-neck added sequins. You can see the final prototype on my instagram - an orange version. Thanks for your tip on Kid Silk. After my testing I will not recommend Drops. It is too prickly, which is not good for a summer tee worn close to skin. I try to find options for “all wallet sizes” which are soft and non-prickly. So listing all soft versions is definitely great. And your help adding to the list very valuable. Thanks 😘

      @@IngesKnittingLab I forgot to mention the Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Mohair that I am presently using combined with Double Sunday. I find it is similar to the Drops when I do a blind test. "The Knit Purl Girl" has a RUclips Episode where she talk about her own experience with many different mohair.

      Thank you soooo much😘. This is very helpful. I would have thought Sandnes was less prickly. I will watch this review - very exciting 🤩

    felting rather happens from changes of temperature (hot to cold and cold to hot) as well as from friction, that is why it is good to put it together with some other at least one peace of garment.

      Yes, thanks. 🙏 🌹 I fully agree. As a newbie felter back then I tried to explain the physics at 34:18 🧶

    Wow! What a lot of prototypes! Love all your samples. Also thanks for the tip about prym needles. I thought of using bamboo needles, but pryms sound ideal. Have to check that out for my plant fibers.

    Very interesting to hear all the details, especially with the yarn testing (I agree that the multicoloured yarn hides your pretty stitch pattern). around 35m20s you ask for help with the English, but I think the words loose and sloppy both work well. We might also say "baggy" for items that are over-sized or sagging, but your English is excellent. Thanks for all your hard work!

      By the way, every time you mentioned not knowing the English word, I think you did a great job explaining it. A lot of those don't have specific terms that I know of. For the mohair fluff we might say 'shedding' like a pet 😅

      Thank you very much, Shelly. 🙏🌹 Yes, I guess shedding was the word I was searching for. Being a non-native language podcaster is very educational. So I am not “just” trying to improve my knitting skills also my English language skills 🤭

    What a lot of work, I love the way your mind tackles the design issues. I love the 3T summer design, just lovely. I used drops kid silk in one garment and was very disappointed, it is so prickly against the skin. I don't use a lot of mohair, living in Australia it is not cold enough where I am. Thank you for the detailed episode.

      Hi Jenny, Yes, it is a lot of work but I love every minute of it. 😍🤩 And I find it important and necessary to get a good quality design/product for my customers/fellow knitters. And the process of “cracking design nuts” is also great fun - I highly enjoy the mental challenge and training my ability to visualise a 3D-final design. Thanks for your feedback on the Summer 3T and your valuable input on the Drops Kid silk. Yes, prickly is the word. I feel it, too. Australia is such a lovely country. I have been there once. And my first choice would not be mohair garments, either. 🤣It was 45 degrees centigrade in Queensland - very hot.☀️ All the best/Inge

    There is no such thing as getting too nerdy when it comes to knitting and yarn for me!! Loved this episode. The summer 3T is beautiful! I will certainly knit it when it comes out. My favorite mohairs are Lang Lace, isager kid silk and filcolana tilia. I find drops kid silk too prickly for me. I just found Holst Lucia (alpaca, silk and yak) which may be the softest fluffy lace weight I've seen! Though I can't speak to how well it holds up yet. The isager holds up beautifully with no pilling or shedding in my experience.

      Hello Victoria - fellow knitting nerd 🤓🤣 Thanks for your feedback on the Tee 🙏🤩 There seems to be consensus of the pricklyness of Drops Kidsilk. Thanks for your valuable input on Brands.🙏 I will definitely try out Isager, Lang and Filcolana. Regarding the Holst version. I am sure it is lovely. However, I will leave out alpaca in this Tee. In my experience, when adding alpaca the fabric/gauge behaves differently, and this would add yet another complexity factor 🤣
