Multiple reviews for this cage say that the hamsters have gotten stuck on the thin part of the enclosure and have accidentally hung themselves. Lots of hamster deaths due to this cage!

Our first Toro 1800 was a total workhorse and it operated well for over 10 yrs (northern Illinois winters). Purchased a new Model 1800 about 4 yrs. ago and we can count on repairing it AT LEAST once per winter. Carbon motor brushes get stuck and it's a no go. That seems to be an inherent problem with the "newer" units. Looked on E-bay and ordered a pack of 20 for $12.00. The size is 6mm x 6mm x 20mm. Cheaper than buying locally as I was quoted $60.00 per brush (need a set of 2) plus shipping!!! Outrageous.

These dog or pet grooming gloves are working like a charm. I can't imagine that the deshedding process could be so easy with these gloves. I didn't know about this glove until one day one of my friends told me that I should use this glove for the deshedding. The point I am making here is that at the prices of these tanks themselves, modifications later make the price worthwhile. 1. There are Filter Cutouts. Marineland for years with the older Eclipse System 3, and Eclipse Hex 5, where using 35 GPH, this filter at 45 GPH is actually a little stronger. As a more experienced hobbyist, I would use the filter this aquarium comes with adding a sponge filter. When the original filter gives out, then I would use something like a Hang on Back filter that runs at 75-100 GPH, and keep the sponge filter. I always have more GPH than needed. 2. Plastic/Acrylic vs. Glass Aquariums - Actually, just a 5 gallon plastic aquarium by itself should be about the same price that this entire kit is selling at. There are Aquarium names out there, (not going to mention here), that have sold the replacement 5 Gallon empty tanks for the same price of these Kit tanks with everything else included on these tanks. I actually am amazed at the low prices. All my 6 tanks are acrylic, 2 of my 20 gallon tanks are over 20 years old, look perfect, the Marineland System 3 is over 12 years old, the AquaTech, (Marineland/Spectrum Brand from Wallmart), is around 10 years old. They last!! I do not trust these newer glass tanks, I would want to buy a bunch of silicone for emergencies if I went in that direction. 3. Lighting. If the lighting goes out one can continue buying a replacement lighting from the company, or go without a cover and get an inexpensive clip-on light, or even just an overhead desktop light. These little diode LED light seem to dim after a few months, I am not a fan of those lights. The price of this tank is very affordable, considering one can easily modify this design in the future, and I modify all the time.
