Hut 9 Preservation Group, 7 Mar 2020, Mr Bernard Power remembers
Просмотров 1083 года назад
Oral History. Mr Bernard Power was interviewed at Island Farm, while visiting our Open Weekend Event, on March 7, 2020. There is a mistake in the titles. 11 March 1941 should read 11 March 1945. My apologies. German PoWs from Island Farm Camp, having a free lunch in Port Talbot on their way to Swansea! Thanks to Mr and Mrs Davies, who were living at the top of Margam mountain, the escapees' one...

What were the Porthcawl Carnivals like in the 1970s? Were you on any of these floats? Please let us know your story... I am pretty amazed of the 'safety' aspects those days! Five super-8 colour films (one with sound!) were digitised, edited and included in this video, following the kind permission of Mrs Gail Janine Lewis. Gail's dad, Mr Jim Graham did the filming... Gail's mum, Mrs Sylvia Grah...

Beautiful films . What a treasure to have xx
Excellent video! I can get quite emotional watching things like this. I'm from Swansea and have fond memories of going to Porthcawl many times with my parents during my childhood in the 1970s.
Fantastic!
Lovely trip back in time, well preserved on film, thanks for sharing
This is an amazing collection of films. I remember filming on Super 8!! Very nice to see "old" Porthcawl I have fond memories of riding the little train with my Mother.
I remember in the 1980's when I was a nipper I would walk along the embankment and find railway sleepers in the ground, it got my little imagination going. Such a shame it disappeared.
@@20PhantoM07 Indeed it was really unique. I met my husband in Porthcawl :)
The couple from Lan Tan Y Groes were my great grandparents, Evan and Elizabeth Davies. Their daughter and son in-law, Emily and James Rowland lived at Tyla Gigfran farm. My uncle Jeffrey was also there.
Lovely! Thank you very much for confirming the story's names, Robert. I shall add, along with your name to the description of the video on RUclips.
Is there anything anyone else from your side, that might be added to this story?
@@stelthirdeyeproductions5819 I’ve posted this video that a family group on Fbook. I suspect that my mum will have things to add. My uncle Roy is currently 91 years old, too.
