For a Jamdani Saree, the price varies on the type of work done, the amount of work done and also the precision with which the work is done. Jamdani work can be done on both cotton & silk. Also handwoven sarees are more expensive than the powerloom sarees.

@@nameg tk u for d clarification.. someone sold a jamdani to me at rs 44k - i won't reveal d shopname, u will know..and den i came across dis cheaper varieties dat looks similar...🙄, and i am mad since den. Your expensive one's dat costs even more broght down some of my anger but i was still in doubt what actually contributes towards d high cost. Anyway, tk u again for your clarification. Jamdani muslin - more so because this cotton has to grown under the least polluted atmosphere. That what gives the *cotton its tenacity* and which can be passed down to generations. The British royalty came searching for these fabrics and it has been circulated only among the royalties in the past and it still does. Before the Internet it was mostly available for the upper wealthy echelon of the society. Coming to the weaves, this cotton thread is very thin yet very strong and so to weave requires *dexterity* . *Imagine counting the different colors of threads during weaving* - it is math with vibrant colors - the skill was passed down thru generations and it would take *15-20 years to master the skill*. It is a very intricate art form and the Basak community that originates from Bangladesh holds the key. Thanks
