My wife of 30 yrs says she is carib , her mother was kalingo not sure what it makes her but she grew up just south of Vieille Case. Hopefully we will be visiting Dominica in the new year

I have many childhood memories of the 8th St station in Bayonne. I was nuts about trains as a child. Around 1967 or '68 I can recall my parents putting me and my older sister (only a year older) on a train on the Jersey Central RR from Raritan Station to Bayonne to visit my paternal grandparents--no supervision from parents, The conductors looked after us (different days). I especially recall crossing the Jersey Central RR bridge between Elizabeth and Bayonne and getting off and meeting my grandmother at the 8th St. station. The park across from the station is where I learned to swim. I had a number of memories of that bridge and the Jersey Central RR in Bayonne. It was sad for me to see the CJRR fade away and the bridge and this station be taken down. Life goes on.
