Very interesting interview. I have been following folklore for 50 years through the medium of folk song and folk clubs. Thank you for your beautiful brief rendition of Matty Groves, (Steel Eye Span version) being one of my favourites and my great fortune to have seen it performed live, as well as Fairport Convention. They were/are great ambassadors of the old tradition. As folklore and tradition progress (and I wish I had followed Ceallaigh dedicated path) I think a modern version of M.G. could have been Rod Stewart's 70's version of Maggie May (probably based on a bawdy Liverpool sailors ballad of the same name). Tales of young men led astray, interesting to see the tale from the other side, as it is usually young ladies being the victim. I will look out for the books, thank you /|\

What a wonderful interview! I will be honest, it is making me consider rejoining OBOD. As you know I took the bard level course many years ago, but there were no groves anywhere near me and it just petered out. Eimear is a very inspiring leader from what I can see here. Well chosen, I think. 🙏🏼🦢

What a wonderful chat! I related to some of what Eimar discusses. For instance, I was raised Catholic, but gave up on the Church early on. My friend Kadjosi is in a refugee camp in Turkana county. This is the first time I have heard anyone else refer to that part of the world. I appreciated the background information on women's roles in druid history and mythology. Eimar is such a vibrant, charming speaker and I love how you never monopolize the interviews, but let your guests say all they have to say. Thank you for sharing (and conserving!) these very precious nuggets of wisdom.

I am glad you and your siblings found each other after so many years. I can't help but wonder what pushes a man to do as your father did. I was told by a West Indian man that it is quite common in their culture for men to take successive partners and produce children by many women. As I understood it, though, the fathers usually recognize and support their issue as best they can. I hope you can continue to learn about your family network. You, your brother and your sisters are his and your mothers' contribution to the world. Blessings on all your houses.

What a great interview! For nearly 3 years now, Barbara has been helping me fulfil a lifelong dream to be able to sing properly. In my mid-50s, I decided it was finally time to give it a go, and I take lessons with Barbara on Zoom. It's been a revelation! From believing I had a low voice and could only sing men's songs, Barbara is taking me on a journey to explore classical and even opera arias in Italian! I never would have thought that was possible. So if you've tucked a singing dream under a rock, let Barbara give it wings. Looking forward to the next interview, Gail.
