I would say the Torana would be worth many time more the the other cars. And those cars are near new with at least 6 speed gearboxes compared to a 4 speed. Torana by far the better of the two car that kit car not even a real car.

Not really a fair comparison on the A9x, according to my stop watch the standard SS went around in about 2:54 Taking in the chase, that's around 20 seconds slower than Brocks opening lap in 1979, but it's made to look like the A9X is getting flogged, also the A9X ran a 2.6:1 diff in 79, would've made a hell of a difference on the straight

And then the Skylines came and blew them all away!

More appropriate would be a GTHO Phase 3.

This was his last lap of the mountain. He was scheduled to drive in the race the next day, but his codriver binned it before he took his seat. Fitting it was in the 05 A9X

Just put the super car motor in the a9x and do the breaks and gearbox the same and run it next race season in super cars against the modern cars.

I suspect brock was going alittle slower then he would have normally. 250kw vs the 300kw the a9x was making plus being a lighter car wouldn't have been that slow

God, I miss the 70's (and early 80's), when the Bathurst enduro was at its most exciting with all the different classes, makes and models and when the track wasn't as sanitized with the concrete barriers, Tyre walls and a million other things to make the track safer. And I miss the drivers like Moffat, Brock, Grice, Morris, Goss and Barlett, brilliant behind the wheel and genuine characters in front of the camera.

Nah, even though technically speaking modern cars beat old-school hands-down, I would still prefer to watch the A9X era cars. Sure the modern cars are faster around the track, but that doesn't immediately translate to them being better, it just means they're faster; and when you stack them against other modern, fast, cars, what's the difference? Nothing. In terms of entertainment, thrill of the race, seat of your pants type stuff, nothing much has changed...it's just that modern cars are very clinical, not something you can dream about when you're in the garage tinkering with your pride and joy. Modern ATCC races are not 'for the people' anymore, they're for the corporates.

The A9X had only a 3.55 diff ratio in it , if a 3.08 ratio normal Bathurst ratio was available it's top speed and comparison would have been a different comparison. It was way down in its potential speed of 270 k or more. Bowden family were kind enough to allow it to complete the show as it was which was great in such a valuable car. Brock would never crash it regardless , regards Terry
