Good effort. This may be BABYMETAL's heaviest song, how about one that may just confuse you? Try 'Iine' (that is iine pronounced ee-neh, not Line ... it means 'so good' like a thumbs up emoji👍). It was only the second song they released and they were clearly making a statement that all the normal rules of music were not going to apply to BABYMETAL.

Babymetal Death is their intro song that they use to open their live shows. The song is basically them spelling out the name of the band "B-A-B-Y-M-E-T-A-L DEATH!" and the girls are introducing themselves by saying "Su-metal desu", "Yuimetal desu", "Moametal desu" ('desu' means "I am" in this context). However, it's also a play on words, because when Japanese people say "death" it sounds like "desu" because Japanese doesn't have dental fricatives (sounds that use your teeth), so they can't make the "th" sound in death, so they subsitute "su", creating a word play on "death" and "desu", so they are both introducing themselves and saying "death" at the same time, which is pretty metal.

Don't worry about the girls not having much to do in this song! Check out the live Legend 1997 performance of Babymetal Death, they have plenty to keep themselves occupied (make sure you are sitting down before watching) 💀✝💀 #notacult 🦊🤘

Good job. The song title is actually 'BABYMETAL Death', not just 'Death'. It was the first song on the first album and they recently released a live video from when they played it live last April - the first time since 2017. The whole song is based on a pun. The English word death sounds to a Japanese speaker like the Japanese word desu (the U is silent) spoken with a slight lisp. Desu means to be - as in I am, we are, it is etc. Basically the lyrics for this song are: "B_A_B_Y_M_E_T_A_L" ... "I am Su-metal", "I am Yuimetal", "I am Moametal", "We are BABYMETAL" ... "Death Death Death Death Death Death Death Death". The reason they didn't play it after 2017 was because Yuimetal had health problems and couldn't perform and in October 2018 she announced that she was leaving the band as she was still not fully recovered. They couldn't really use 'BABYMETAL Death' with just two of them. They brought it back last April when Momometal became the new official member so now we get the slight change in lyrics "I am Su-metal", "I am Moametal", "I am Momometal". In your own time do yourself a favour and watch the live videos for 'BABYMETAL Death' live at Legend 1997 and see how they celebrated Su-metal's 16th birthday in December 2013 (it was the finale rather than the intro that night) ... then watch the most recent live video they released with 'BABYMETAL Death' live at the PIA Arena, April 2023 - this was released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first album. Keep the BABYMETAL coming. Nearly 70 songs now, each song different to the last and no fillers.
