The power hammer lives again!
After 150 years and a lot of new and upgraded inputs, the power hammer is running at last. it’s still running a little fast which you might not be able to pick up at two times speed. This will require a little bit more fine tuning and maybe a VSD unit but still great to have it running last.

    That part 2 would have been great. Im making a brigandine now and Im stuck at about where this video ended. The holes in the plates, how did you know how many holes to make and how many per plate and per row? Did you mark the holes on your canvas then use the canvas to make the rivet holes on your finished brigandine textile? None of the brigandine videos I have found on RUclips cover that information.

    • @allfireupnz
      @allfireupnz Год назад

      Hi - so I just did a “nice amount” about a finger apart for each hole but where there is an overlap in plates, don’t rivet that hole, but you can drill it out. Drill the holes in the plates, then lay them in rows along the canvas. Mark the holes through the plates onto the canvas. Poke holes with a stabber through the canvas then insert nails. You need flat headed nails, or a washer it the heads are small so they won’t pull through.

      @@allfireupnz Okay, perfect. Thank you. I like the idea of drilling the holes in the plates first to use as the guiding template. I have some roofing nails with big flat heads to use as rivets. Thank you again. It feels like almost all of the Brigandine videos are over five years old and made by unused accounts so getting precise information has been really difficult. I just don't want to try what seems right and ruin the whole project because I didn't know any better.

    The work looks good. If you don't mind some feedback: I feel like landscape would be a better orientation for the camera. I personally prefer videos that show more of the work with less thorough explanation (but of course explanation is useful and desired, I think it's just better when it's included in the video notes, maybe in a blog about building the piece that has more thorough instructions) Otherwise, I'm looking forward the next one.
