Trees are the future. Why not plant fruit trees or berry bushes. Willows are great for basket weaving. Spruce and pine for furniture and craft. Mind you, to make any of these potential industries viable, it is important that the government gets rid of the minimum wage and enforce eviction orders immediately on defaulters. Markets forces (if allowed) will save rural Ireland. Otherwise, it will die.
