I took these images in January and June 2021. I noticed the presence of these hammerhead sharks in October 2020. They are specifically in one of the three site we occupy to grow pearl oysters. Sorry for the lousy images but it seems that our little friends show up when the visibility is at its worst. We chose this site to do pearl farming because of the high plankton presence. I believe that the ocean is good !!!
Pretty cool how can I check you guys out
wow
This is not site #7, some 400-500 m offshore of Uli's property, and definitely not the 'dead coral' zone described by a transect at 3 m deep at the site by the ecologist undertaken the investigations; 90-95% bleaching of the shallow reefs in the part of Fiji in 2016-17 is well documented (including for the Wainikeli Bouma Reef), it is not a rumour. Having dived all of the sites of southern Qamea (Purple Wall some 3-years ago on the Taveuni side was all dead coral, supposedly due to terrestrial run-off?), as well as snorkelling/swimming from Nadilo Bay to Black Rock on several occasions over the past couple of decades, the closest that I have see to coral like this is on the Qamea side is in the sheltered pass in the reef on the southern side of Black Rock.
My boat and diving equipment is available for you anytime. This is site 7 as per your map. We dove between 1 and 10 meters. West wall is very dense and less on south face but still loaded with good coral cover.
Thanks for this Claude, very helpful
Nice Video, Thanks Claude
