Stockton Flats - Lytle Creek

Exploring Stockton Flats off of Lytle Creek. Mountains had snow coverage, and some snowy patches on the trail. Easier trail than I expected. Did the trail in 2WD , and only switched to 4WD just to give the transfer case a little workout.
Jeep Wrangler TJ 2.5L 4cyl to 4.0L 6cyl Swap
Просмотров 19 тыс.2 года назад
Journey through swapping out the tired old 2.5L 4-banger for a 4.0L and a few upgrades along the way. Took about 5 months to complete with upgrades & mods working on it after work and weekends, but it was well worth it. Should have done this sooner. All components (steering pump, alternator, etc.) and sensors were replaced. PCM was flashed for a 6cyl setup. Transmission & transfer case were als...
Installing Kilmat Sound Deadening Material in Jeep Wrangler TJ, with Before & After Sound Test
Просмотров 5 тыс.2 года назад
Decided to install 80 mil thick Kilmat sound deadening material in the Jeep. Watch until the end to see a before and after noise test and judge for yourself. I Should note I also added carpeting as well. It obviously isn't as quiet as a luxury sedan, but I did notice a considerable amount of difference. I'd say this is a great alternative to Dynamat.
How much material did you use , how many sheets of insulation so I’ll know how much to buy
Hello, I made the same modifications as you, but my car starts for 5 seconds and then stops.
Where you programmed 2.5 ECU 4.0L 🙏
What does that mean
Comon, you can do better. Lets see that paint pattern. You didnt show how you determened the pinion shim size too. You can make up for all the missing stuff on your front axle build...
Nice job
great video , how much product did you use? I want to of the same on my tj! did it help with heat from the tranny/engine ? Thank you
Nice Video
Well, well wellllllll....looked who popped up on my feed!
hi, I did the same swap on my 2002 tj, with a 1999 engine. I kept my 2.5 harness frame but currently I have an ignition problem, what are the exact modifications you did you do on the harness please?
you obviously did get a new harness for the 4.0 and new trans, correct? can you elaborate on the problem? does it crank but no start? no power at all?
What was the fix?
Question does it feel like a propeller when accelerating? Mind comes and goes and notice a burning smell.
Nice drone footage 👍 Looks smooth and clear. Good times
Your 4x4 is engaged at highspeed? 🤔
Nope. 4wd is not engaged. It's disengaged at the transfercase. The driveshaft is rotating from the diff/pinion gear.
if you want true sound reduction you need mass loaded vinyl. This type of material will help with resonance from vibrating metal panels but if you want to go all out you need mass and a de coupling layer of closed cell foam. ResoNIx makes a really great product for this called ResoNix Barrier but its $$$. Good luck everyone trying to quiet down thier jeep.
The yj I just bought came with a swapped 4.0 but the harness still needs to be repaired and having a lot of backlash help!
Where do you see the backlash?
That some nasty looking oil, how long since it was last changed ?!
You where upgrading from oem?? To a bigger one?? Im new with this stuff jajaa
How bad did it smell? Its not the worst gear oil ive seen but i know that stuff can reek worse than used diesel oil
Yep, it had that gear oil stench. This was the break in oil for the new gears, so black oil is expected. It looks worse than it was.
we need some close ups!
Nice video...
It doesn’t look like he prepped anything
❤ awesome Orvin
💪💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have a 2001 jeep it was 2.5 but I changed the engine to 4.0 but it only changes the engine harnes and the e cm or it has to be everything help
Not sure how far along you are in the process, but there's quite a few things you would need to change i.e. Motor mount location, transmission, transfer case (or spline swap).
Nice work 👍🏼… I was thinking of doing the same to my YJ, & looking at either the killmat or dynamat products. I’ve also considered going over the sound mats inside my Jeep’s tub with bedliner. What do you think? Reduce sound (and possibly heat), while also keeping the tub protected from any water that might get in..
I want to do this to my 2.4
Sick. How many boxes did you use?
What about the driveshaft was causing the wobble? I feel like I'm experiencing the same thing based on the location and type of vibration - also only at highway speed. I assume the root cause were the u-joints? Thanks for posting this, I've been meaning to take a similar video to try to find my issue.
It was the u-joints. One of them visibly failed after a while.
Did you change ECU from your 2.5 to an ECU for a 4.0? did you use your 2.5 wiring harness? where can i get a copy of the wiring change that in your video. i am in the process of removing 2.5 and installing MORE motor mount kit i purchased. just need help on figuring out the wiring. thanks james
Apologies for the late reply. Need to figure out how to get notifications on this thing. Let me know if you still need info. To answer your questions: 1.) I got my 2.5 ECU reprogrammed from this company called ARES technologies in Reiverside, CA. 2.) I actually ended up using a wiring harness from a 99 but required some mods to connectors. More trouble than it's worth, but it was the only wiring harness I could find for the inline 6. Good luck, if you haven't already finished the swap.
A R S H A G
What did this job cost you out the door if you don’t mind me asking ? I just blew my 2.5 and have to replace the motor 🤦♂️ .
did you have a driveline shop ballance the shaft?
Nope. This is the new Oliver's drive shaft, but due to my ring & pinion gear ratio (left over from 4cyl days) the shaft is spinning way faster than what the vendor balances to, hence the vibes. I need to regear to proper gear ratio.
sounds like the higher frequency noise was removed which is awesome, thanks for the video.
Nice Video. With my TJ currently being out of commission I am living vicariously through your video. I’d been thinking of going up there to see.
Fj's do it better.
That was me in the white Gelandewagen. Made it up to Redbox road before turning around. There was a family in a new S-Class stuck at the large turnout before Redbox.
Awesome video! Am planning to do this with my yj, I planned on using a 200 mil silhess layer and then a closed cell foam on top of that. Was thinking about doing under the hood and the hard top too. Do you feel like the mats affected how the carpet fit in your tj?
I was never a fan of the Wrangler carpets. Always felt flimsy and never stayed in place. With the sound deadener or maybe anything underneath seems to keep the carpets in place better. Or maybe it's just too soon to tell?
Awesome!! I want to do this! Can you possibly make a video explaining the wiring a little more ? I love my tj but I need more power for sure.
where you got the brackets that you welded to the frame ? thx

@@jeepshak Thank you so much Sir! Really appreciate it!😃

I love the video I just did my Prius
Nice. heading out there in the morning. Getting this hopefully lifestyle started.
Thnk u for posting this. Will be doing the same. I hope it blocks radiant heat too. All i have currently is carpet and its too darn hot in here.
It's been LA "cold" lately so can't speak for those summer drives, but I haven't noticed the usual amount of heat coming up... the foil back linging should help.
hi - have you found the Kilmat installation to be worth it? Considering it for my XJ. thanks!
Hey there. Yea, I think it was worth it. I went into it with the not expecting much and knowing it's not going to get super quiet like a luxury sedan, but there is a noticeable difference from before. I was running no carpets and just herculined interior so I probably had the worst case scenario as a baseline. The best way I can describe the change is that all the noise is now muffled. My only regret was not accurately taking decibel readings before. I plan on installing kilmat in the door panels as well to if I can get it even quieter, ha! Hope this helps!

Just watch out for the motorcycles!
