Japan Autumn 2024 - Day 9 (Kyoto) - Part II
After our morning at Nanzen-ji, we took a walk down the Philosopher's Path to the famed Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion) where we saw some of the most beautiful autumn foliage. We took a long walk from Ginkaku-ji to the Demachiyanagi Station to make our way to our last stop of the day at Fushimi-Inari Taisha, the Shrine with the Thousand Torii Gates.

Day 7 took us to Kiso Valley, to one of the post towns along the Edo period Nakasendo Trail, Narai-juku. As we checked out of our hotel in Tokyo, we embarked on the 2nd leg of our trip to scenic Nagano. Getting to Nagano was a 2 hour trip, thanks to Shinkansen. Upon reaching Nagano, we made a trip up the mountains to Togakushi Shrine, a place high on my travel bucket list. On our last day in Tokyo, we made a trip to Mount Fuji. We initially planned to go to Mount Fuji on Day 4, but chose to delay the trip by a day after checking the weather forecast. The highlight of the day was Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. This garden is also the backdrop for Makoto Shinkai's anime movie, "The Garden of Words". The beauty of Shinjuku Gyoen in its autumn colours made our first hunt for "Kouyou". A morning's walk in the huge garden followed with Soba lunch and shopping at Shinjuku. Thank you for your video, which has helped me to decide on karuizawa as a day trip from tokyo! May I ask if prices at Prince Shopping Plaza were good in general, and also how long do you estimate to spend in Yagasaki Park. Thank you
I'm glad the video helped you with your decision! 😊 Prices at Karuizawa Prince seemed better when I compared it against Mitsui Kisarazu Outlet. There were more additonal discounts at Prince. For Yagasaki Park, I didn't spend too much time there. If you want to spend some tranquil time, sitting there and appreciating the peace, you can cater 30mins. Otherwise, a slow walk in the park with some phototaking will probably take you some 15 to 20 mins. Hope this helps!
