I believe what I say and it comes from personal experience with people who've left. @@lesmillman Thanks for your response. I haven't left Adventism, and I have no intentions of leaving. I'm a leader in Adventism for 34 years. I've spent thousands of hours researching, studying and digging for info. I listened to both sides of this debate for years, and yes there are problems on both sides. I strongly disagree with our church on certain issues, one being on the Ellen White factor. I cannot take the position taken by many concerning Ellen White, because of what I've come to know. The reason why I will not throw her out is because I believe I've come to understand her journey. She was human, with flaws like me. I still refer to her writings, as long as I'm comfortable that they align correctly with the supreme word of God, the Holy Bible. We as SDAs have projected a dangerous relationship with Ellen White. We've projected her as if she's a prerequisite for salvation and she's not. She's also not an infallible interpreter of scripture. Those who've projected this has made her into an idol. I believe that we've been dishonest about Ellen White, and I've seen people destroyed in the church for questioning her writings. That ought never to be. The Bible has all we need for salvation. I recognize all the wonderful things she has done, but I must also recognize the bad things, the wrong things, the unbiblical things. I must be HONEST. If my critique seemed hard, that was not my intention. I wish you God speed and pray that you be always faithful to Christ. I pray for our church as well, that we ALWAYS be honest about everything; even those things that could make us look bad as a church. Honesty must be a main pillar in any Christian denomination. Honesty and truthfulness. ALWAYS.

@@Hursley-q5x Not sure how this applies but no biggie. Your above words are good. They fit with what I said about not enough faith to discern the difference between our beliefs and the people who struggle to live up to them. We had a couple in my local church who appeared to be so strong on first introduction. They had basically studied themselves in but had not yet joined. However they were turned off by too much "Ellen White says ..." and went back to a Sunday church. I'm a layman and don't get paid to do a lot of research like a Pastor or University Professor would. So I may come off unsound to a professional because I can't always quote a source exactly but I do try for the most part.

I believe God used her in some ways, but I cannot condone the blatant dishonesty being put forth in her defense. Sorry you are incorrect. Jesus gave a prophecy referring to the fall of Jerusalem and said "pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath", Matthew 24:20. And since Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, John received the Revelation on "the Lord's day", which is the Sabbath. Sunday keeping came after and that is what the verse I quoted in Lamentations is referring to. Cross reference Isaiah 30:13 with Ezekiel 22:28 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you Like a breach ready to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant. Her prophets plastered them with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord had not spoken. For sin to be a breach in a wall, the wall must therefore be the Ten Commandments since sin is the transgression of the Law according to 1 John 3:4KJV. 'Untempered mortar' is used five times in Ezekiel to illustrate some sort of compromise to that wall. Think about the illustration. The bricks seem to hold together but under the testing time, they fail. This is clearly what Sunday worship is. Sunday is MY Sabbath, the day I make holy by going to church. The Seventh Day is His Sabbath, the day He makes holy by the revelation of Himself.

When you walked out on us because of this verse in Hebrews, did you also walk away from believing in the 168 verses that teach the 7th day is the true Sabbath? I could find you 100 verses on the fact that death is a sleep-like state. Did you walk out on all of them for "absent from the body = present with the Lord"? Did you also walk out on the historicist view of prophetic interpretation in favour of cheering for literal Israel with the futurists? If so, I can't help you. The problem is not our theology, but your own limited understanding of it. From the time and place you mention, I assume you personally knew Desmond Ford. I have never gone over his material itself but I have read some response works from SDA theologians. I suggest you try Marvin Moore's "The Case for the Investigative Judgement". It deals with all the main criticisms from various sources quite well. Although I will say I wasn't a fan of his take on this particular challenge you discuss here. His thought is that there is no veil in the Heavenly Sanctuary because with no sin there, a veil is not needed. Possible, but I think there is still line drawn between God the Father and His creatures that only God the Son can cross. Ellen White wrote of Jesus pleading before the Father offering Himself as soon as Adam and Eve sinned. And the way I read that statement, it seemed like He was in some sort of 'closer than normal' connection when He did this for us. "Right hand man" is a phrase in our language for assistant, which the Son is to the Father. They are equal as God, yet with the Spirit, each play separate roles in a hierarchy. The Father alone knows the day and hour of the second coming. And the Spirit does not speak for Himself, but lives to glorify the Son. As for Hebrews 9:12, let's look carefully at it: "Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption". My take, not Moore's, is that it's explained by verse 11: "But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation." The use of the phrase 'most holy' in verse 12 is not a reference to the pattern of holy and most holy places in either sanctuary. Verse 11 compares the entire Heavenly Sanctuary to the entire earthly sanctuary and calls it 'more perfect'. So like the way we use 'him' or 'her' to describe the last person named in a sentence or conversation, 'most holy' means the entire Heavenly Sanctuary here. I came on strong at the beginning of this because I think its what you needed to hear, but I hope you feel a loving response based on biblical reasoning in my reply to you sir.

@@lesmillman Marvin Moore and many like him will be held accountable by God for bending scripture to make SDA teachings fit. They ignore biblical context and deliberately project a lot of assumptions to make a lie into the truth. The IJ is a man-made doctrine, concocted by Hiram Edson and ORL Crosier, on October 23, 1844, as an alternative interpretation of Daniel 8:14, after Crist did not come on October 22, 1844. They were in the cornfield. The doctrine was birthed in the cornfield. Crosier eventually confessed their error and distanced himself from it. He stated that they were theological novices and babes when they brought it forward. Over the years, SDA theologians have been bending the word of God to make this doctrine fit into scripture, but it will never fit, once you choose to be true to bible and proper contextual application. Ellen White, in her later years, stressed that we have much much to unlearn, and much to learn again. The IJ is one of the things we need to unlearn. It is impossible to turn a false teaching into a true teaching, no matter how much we bend scripture and do theological gymnastics around the texts. There are many SDA bible scholars and teachers who know for a fact that it is impossible to get SDA teaching out of Daniel 8:14. Many remain silent for fear of the consequences of challenging the doctrine. Anyone who dares to challenge this false doctrine will be torn to pieces by the church. Just like what Rome did to Martin Luther and company in the past. The time is fast approaching when the church will be left with no option but to tell the WHOLE TRUTH about the IJ and about Ellen White. Christ and Christ ALONE.

I doubt you are correct. She was an honest, kindhearted sincere Christian. She 'plagiarized' minor details and would have quoted the Lord word for word when she was told to just like the biblical prophets.

Jupiter was what Joseph Bates thought she was being shown. As for you point two, what Adventist preachers say here when they cover the subject is that it was a gradual transition with both days being kept for a time, Sabbath a fast day and Sunday a feast day. The phrase "when in Rome do as the Romans do" originated during this time as they kept Sunday in Rome.

I became a Sabbath keeper through Bible study and not through arguing which ancient history scholar was right.

@lesmillman Ellen G White claims to be a prophet, that is the issue with her statements in the Great Controversy that scholars say are not true. Eg. The Romans did not have a day of rest, and the 7-day week did not exist in pagan Rome. Yet as a child I was taught as an SDA that Sunday became the day of rest in Rome because Sun-Day was already a day of rest. Canright pointed out that he was advised by scholars who know about everyday life in pagan Rome that the 7-day week did not exist, and that they did not have a day of rest prior to becoming Christians, and that the Sun-Day festival was an annual event not a weekly one. So it is the credibility of Ellen G White that is the issue.

@lesmillman My point about Jupiter is that unmanned space rockets have visited Jupiter and have tested rocks on Jupiter. It is a lifeless planet. Mars is the only planet in our solar system there appears to be some evidence of life in the past. Microbial life. So people suspect Ellen G White only made the tall beings claim about Jupiter believing nobody would ever be in a position to verify such a claim. On a seperate note have you ever had a discussion about the Old Testament with Jews? They point out most Christians don't understand the Old Testament because very few Christian theologians have read the Old Testament in the original language, Hebrew. Lots of well known mistranslation of the original Hebrew text they say. Eg. Isaiah 7:14 was mistranslated into Greek to read Virgin rather than Young Woman. The writers of the first couple of chapters of Matthew then made up a story about a Virgin birth to pretend the Greek mistranslated prophecy has been fulfilled, secular New Testament scholars say. Another forgery is the New Testament text that explicitly mentions the Trinity scholars say. A Dutch translator added that text in a 1600s translation of the Bible as a favour to someone who wanted a translation that explicitly talks about the Trinity. That forged text is not in the NRSV, but has been kept in the NKJV even though it is not in the original .

In a way, the death begins in the heart of those in rebellion because while they live, the hollow emptiness they have without God leads them to despair. With Jesus there is a quality and purpose to life which will extend beyond into eternity.

If you took a serious look at those messages and saw how much of the Bible she quotes in supporting them, you would see the spirit of a prophet being in harmony with all previous prophets as is said in 1 Corinthians 14:32. Again and again I say to every one like you who comments this way, go overall my old Bible study videos, each one and you will see hundreds of Bible texts that prove Adventist theology is the truth. Your words are nothing but an excuse.

In my 20 years as an elder, I have only witnessed one person leave because of doctrine in my former church. They either leave because they grow cold or are hijacked by breakaways such as the Unitarian movement. Very few are derailed by criticism of Ellen White. What is more, hundreds of soul saving and soul sanctifying pages of her writings are overlooked to find what are considered errors. The same spirit as the atheist and the Bible.

Obviously I feel differently. After a rather lengthy set of replies back and forth from someone similar, I've come to the conclusion what exSDAs reject is actually the Adventist subculture.

I left the church because of the overwhelming greed and hypocrisy! Not to mention the mind control!

Let's say, for the sake of discussion, that she plagiarized a book, so what! What if she faked all of her writings, so what! Even if we Seventh Day Sabbath keepers never possessed any of writings, the Fourth Commandment would still be there! We would still be keeping the Sabbath! Ellen White's books and writings are not necessary for Salvation. This is what you don't understand, so stop the BASHING!

Isaiah 65:8, first half: Thus says the Lord: “As the new wine is found in the cluster, And one says, ‘Do not destroy it, For a blessing is in it’. And Acts 2:13 tells us: Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.” 'New wine' is grape juice. The Holy Spirit's outpouring caused scoffers to call them drunk on grape juice. Jesus made juice, very good juice.

I am a Seventh-Day Adventist, but your statement is incorrect, she absolutely did provide many large sections of other people's writings. The dispute is not over that, it's whether it was considered plagiarism in those times, and whether she claimed those words to be inspired or whether she claimed them to be her own words. I heard you to look into it more. Blessings!

1. The God who took on human form was Jesus. God the Son came to represent the Trinity on earth because sin cuts us off from the Father, see Isaiah 59:1,2. 2. Lamentations 2:9, the last half, explain why the gift of prophecy was withdrawn from the church. "The Law is no more, And her prophets find no vision from the Lord." When the church changed the Sabbath from the Seventh Day to Sunday, God stopped calling prophets. 3. Revelation 10:11 clearly says the gift will return in the last days. 'And he said to me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings."' 4. Therefore the only church that can have a prophet is one which keeps the true Sabbath.

5. And if you look in the index of any of Ellen White's books and count the number of Bible verses she quotes, it's in the hundreds for her larger books. She agrees with the Bible.

No, Constantine is not mentioned by name but there is also Daniel 7:25: He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time. The Popes of the Dark Ages would burn at the stake and excommunicate people who did not agree with their teachings. And the Catholic Church still claims the right to the power it has by the fact that they changed the Sabbath. Therefore they fulfill the 'pompous words' and 'intend to changes times and law'.

From a brief look at your channel, it seems a little too much emphasis is there on exposing darkness rather than lifting up the truth and letting the truth do that for you. I know I can sometimes go that way myself. It's hard when there is so much evil around us. But what's right with the truth is what counts. Here's an Ellen White quote I am sure you will agree with form Evangelism, p. 166 "The best way to deal with error is to present the truth, and leave wild ideas to die for want of notice. Contrasted with truth, the weakness of error is made apparent to every intelligent mind."

@@Doris1888 Of course. But that phrase "I keep every day holy" is often used as an excuse to avoid the Sabbath. In Matthew 25 tells gives us a number of parables on practical Christian living. However no matter how many times I might feed, clothe and visit the poor and needy on a Tuesday, I have no power by those actions to make Tuesday holy. God makes the day Holy or not by His presence. And in Genesis 2:3 we see which one and only day that was. "Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made."
