It was a good play, shield was about to go down and if you have ever played the game youd know there is a cool down of it breaks. He disabled it before it could break therefore not having a cooldown while still getting the protection you wouldve got with letting in break. I hope this helps a rookie like you, as a seasoned veteran i would definitely know more than you would ever.
