I remember watching this eclipse, near total where I lived, and being totally amazed. I was 15 at tthe time, and wondered what the music'd sound like as my radio didn't work. Not bad at all. Early in 2015 I watched another broad solar eclipse (see icon pic) and was just as overwhelmed
LOVE THIS TRACK.PRAY TO THE GODS ABOVE THAT I BECOME A MILLIONAIRE THEN I CAN CARRY OUT MY DREAM OF GOING FISHING WITH MANY DIFFERENT WOMEN AND WATCH THE WOMEN HOLD AND POSE WITH ALIVE FISH FOR A LONG LONG TIME WHICH PUTS ME ON HEAT.PRAY TO THE HOLY SPIRITS ABOVE THAT I BECOME A MILLIONAIRE THEN I WILL BE IN A POSITION TO DO WHAT I TRULY WANT TO DO ALL MY LIFE WHICH IS GOING FISHING WITH MANY DIFFERENT WOMEN AND WATCH THE WOMEN POSE AND PLAY WITH ALIVE FISH FOR OVER 10 MINUTES WHICH MAKES ME SO RANDY/HORNY AND FRUITY.
This Casting A Shadow video, IIRC, was relesed on the second New York City Boy single CD2 (full length version, with Casting A Shadow being the b-side), in the enhanced section. Whereas the NYCB video was released on the single CD1 (radio edit, with The Ghost Of Myself). Silver age contains the line "a total eclipse of the sun and the moon" but isn't actually connected to the 1999 eclipse. Like CAS, however, it is a *Nightlife*-era b-side.
Hypnotic, brilliant. You either get this song or you don't. Works perfectly with the theme to the TV show 'UFO' laid over it. Whistle the refrain to the UFO theme (duh duh-duh duhhhhh, deeee dudda dudda duh duh-duhhhhhhh) over this. and see for yourself. Someone should do a mashup of that, it'd be f**king brilliant
@whitneywellie This is the right song, it's called 'Casting a shadow' and was played on BBC Radio 1 during the eclipse in 1999. It was also released on one of the 'New York City boy' CDs. 'Silver age' was a b-side to 'I don't know what you want but I can't give it anymore' a few months earlier, and was nothing to do with the eclipse.
Actuallysalemslot, unfortunatelly for any uploading reason it was not possible to visualize the name of the song that day, but i know that's from PSB, thanx for being thoughtful.
@gianstylist Yes it was the eclipse of the sun, PSB wrote the track especially for BBC Radio 1 to play live as the eclipse happened (which they did). It was amazing :-)
Einsteins theory or relativity had to be proven through documenting eclipses, I belive he tried 3 times around the world top do this moving massive telescopes to each site.
They are the most down to earth lads, I love them and think they deserve all the success they've worked so hard to acheive! Their best performance ever was at the Brits. Aaaaabsolutely faaaaabulous!!!! lolxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This is off the enhanced CD maxi single UK CD single 1: Parlophone "New York City boy" (Radio Edit) "The Ghost of Myself" "New York City boy" (The Almighty Definitive Mix) "New York City boy" (Enhanced video) UK CD single 2: Parlophone "New York City boy" (Album version) "Casting a Shadow" "New York City boy (Superchumbo's Uptown Mix) "Casting a Shadow" (Enhanced Eclipse Video Footage)
I remember this! I was at work in a shopping mall, made my boss record radio 1 just for the Pet Shop Boys while we all left to go up on the roof to watch the eclipse! Brilliant! (She recorded it aswell :-)

Wrong song. It was " silver age". It was going to be on bbc1 live from devon. get it right.
I love the combination between the music and the video!
