I saw John Renbourne on a number of occasions in my youth 1960s and 70s. I must admit that I just took him for granted. I watch this and I’m mesmerised.😊😊

He's really digging the pentatonic thing here. I think his greatest strength was his sound and his feel backing others. Such a distinct sound.

Rod's autobiography- they'd all hit the pub across from the BBC dragged John Peel and themselves back for the show recording just in time. Still, great music for those listening to the radio! Rod and John great friends, Rod even went to his wedding.

I had the privilege of being brought up by my Dad, a jazz/blues/folk fan who spent his whole life fighting to 'Keep Music Live'. So much so, I had the gift of God honour to see, and meet, Pentangle reformed twice. My father was a modest, introspective man until injustice, then he arose. My greatest, most cherished, memory of him was standing on stage introducing the newly reformed Pentangle and just shining, glowing, emanating in the success of sharing the greatest group of musicians ever to have played a (small) venue anywhere, ever. :] Thanks to him, and my mother (classical/opera/big band/folk), I have an encyclopaedic love of music...however, ONLY Pentangle lift me beyond everything, and everyone, else and remind me the beauty that can be created when a group of people work together. Joy to you.

The discovery of the century: I stumbled upon Gryphon as a teen curious about the artwork on Red Queen to Gryphon Three. The various instruments the lads played were quite diverse and mind blowing. Once I heard the album, it was lights out for me. What a treasure of a band and so talented!!

I love the five Gerry Rafferty tracks. Great.

Richard Thompson's guitar work, Simon Nicol's bass weaving bottom end and Sandy Denny's soaring voice stand out in this performance. "I'll Keep It With Mine" and "Percy's Song" take me back to that great synthesis of Rock and Folk in the late '60, '70's. Beautiful music. "Turn, Turn, Again. Turn, Turn, to the rain and the wind." We're either all still at it, or we've joined with the ancients.

I saw the Incredible String Band, when they were just a duo, at the jazz club at the University of Sussex around 1967/68. The next time I saw them was at the The Dome in Brighton. The opening act was Pentangle whom I had not heard of before. They were so amazing that I went to see them every single time they came to town. I bought all their albums as soon as they came out and it was if I was watching their unique sound evolve. They gave me such joy in my student days and as I started a family. Now 56 years later in 2024, they still bring the same great joy with their poignant combination of traditional folk songs and supreme musicianship. Thank you all for everything you have created for us to enjoy.
