@jo-karts Hi! very inspired by your hot lap timing… for the 1st double hairpin turns - I still trying to figure out the best way to approach the hairpin turns… what would be your advice?
Hello there and thanks! The first set of double hairpins I guess it depends on which kart you drive. Since I drove the slower novice level kart which has slower acceleration so corner exit could be different based on feeling. For the first hairpin is to go wider to the left to open the corner and try be fast on acceleration before mid corner ideally. Approaching the second corner, as you enter, try to stay middle (but slightly little to the right) so the kart dosent slow down too much entering hairpin 2 (since novice has lower acceleration when exiting). Although I think another method which could be faster, is stay middle (but more to the left instead of right) taking a tighter entry into hairpin 2, which seems to be the shorter line but requires very precise navigation as its tighter exiting and it seems to benefit the faster kart levels as they have better acceleration out of hairpin 2 than the novice. I am not really a pro here as I only did one session, so my advice is just based on initial feeling of the novice. Hope this helps and you can nail them hairpin turns 👍🏻
Thanks maestro! Appreciate the guidance. I just clocked 35.887. One of the staff told me that I braked too much entering the first hairpin turns for both sets of double hairpins. Will practice harder and strive for 34.xxx.💪
Hi what is better Ruud or x park
Hey there, both are good tracks and it's hard to say which one is better for myself. I would say sunway is indoor so its quite weatherproof, and the track feel is slippery and drifty which makes it quite fun to test driving skills. Also it's quite a wide and easy to learn track. RUD medini has a circuit feel and lots of fast corners. So if you like a grippier track, outdoor setting and very fast corners that requires good traction driving techniques. Rud could be the better alternative.
How fast do these go?
Not too sure of the official kart speed. But between 50 to maybe 70km per hour at top speed? This is just an estimate

Wait.. so i need to get 1:35 or under for the 270cc, then i can use the 390cc?
Yeah, 1:35 (some said it was reduced to 1:20 the time) was the benchmark time to qualify for the 390cc. Or you hold a FIA/MAM license, which gives you access to the 390cc.
1 minute lap
I was gonna set a sub 35 lap time but i got blocked by someone, he just ignored blue flags, defending for his life haha
Ah yeah totally know that feeling coming across those drivers. Unfortunately, EK Johor is a narrow track which makes it harder to pass. Don't worry you will get it next time and hopefully a time faster then the 35s 💪
so sh0rt
had 41.2 on level 2
Is the track easy? It looks like you’re going flat out a lot.
I reckon it's like a medium difficulty track? It's probably very tricky as the track surface is like super smooth and polished. After several laps, it felt easier to drive. Think for the zigzag sequence of corners I tried to be as flat with micro lifts when I felt the kart was losing traction. Overall, I felt I was quite scrappy in how I managed the corners and could have gone full throttle earlier/faster 😅
1:30:00 is a beast
I wouldn’t call this a track
Can I know where you mount your recoding device? Is that built-in mount for action cam or you prepare by yourself?
I set up my action cam using a chin-mount strap device that attaches to my full face helmet. It's not built in as my helmet's mouth guard is not compatible for sticking.
Track seems so narrow! No way to race other people or overtake
Yeah! Super Bros kart's indoor venue has not much space to make it wider. Only place for overtakes would be the road section 😅
I been here we set similar lap time I’m 35.200
Nice! Did you get to drive the advance/pro karts there?
I got 36.849 on my second try I’m gonna try to get 35
I got advance!
my best lap 1:37:887 any tips to improve my time? still bad cornering & apex
Hey there, that's still a good decent time you did! 👍 I have only been to LYL karting when the track was wet. So it might be hard for me to advice a faster time for a dry track. Maybe perhaps for your case of cornering and apex. I would recommend to not touch or drive on most of the kerbs/apexes there, as I noticed a slight drop on engine revs when I rode on the kerbs which could compromise the time. For cornering, I think skill is to be as early as you can on throttle when exiting the corner. Or try to be as early on the accelerator smoothly when you are mid corner. This keeps the engine's momentum upon exit, maximising your speed. For trackwise, as LYL is quite a wide track, try to use the full width of the track for cornering. This lets the kart have more speed in the corners and momentum exiting. For the tight S corner before the tunnel section, you can gently tap the accelerator throughout the S corner to maintain speed and turn in. For the long corners of this track, example being like the one leading upwards to the bridge section, depending on your grip you can consider taking it full throttle and avoid going onto the kerbs if there's understeer. I tried taking it full throttle on a wet track, it was quite tricky as my kart nearly lost traction during mid-corner from the lack of grip. Be sure to warm up your tyres, ensure that it's dry and safe when doing so, as this can be risky from my experience. Like most professionally designed karting circuits, braking technique it a good skill for the corners. Such as braking later and smoothly could definitely help improve lap times. I found this as a challenge for myself when I was there, so definitely practicing different braking techniques at LYL's corners could help with speed. Also maybe point out braking references that could assist you; I use the the red/white kerbs as visual reference for braking. Disclaimer : The above is personal karting advice and experience. I do recommend to practice safe driving first and foremost, learning the track gradually while making sure the kart is safe to drive fast. If you need tailored guidance I do recommend asking qualified karting professionals as they have good insights. Do be aware of the risks and prioritise yours and others safety at all times! 😊👍
@@jokarts Thanks bro 🙏🏼
I feel like the qualifying time to qualify to drive the faster 390cc karts are too ridiculous. No way of getting 1:20
Yeah agreed it can be quite hard to achieve a fast laptime especially if the session is affected by traffic or weather conditions since its fully outdoors. If I am not wrong, the LYL staff quoted either a lap time of 1:35 or MAM/FIA certification for the 390cc karts. Unless they changed the criteria 🤔 Spoke to the manager about the lap timings. I can understand their reason of doing a fast lap time or certification to prove your ability to responsibly handle a faster kart as it can be dangerous. Hopefully, theres room for refinements for the 390cc qualifications. Like if drivers set consistent decent average laptimes throughout a few sessions without any fluctuation dip in timings or track incidents. Perhaps they can be considered to drive the 390cc? Just sharing a hopeful opinion 😊
@@jokarts when I went on 9th October, they said the benchmark time was 1:20 so we were like no way we could achieve that, I have a friend that's really good at karting could only get 1:37. I feel like they purposely put it very low so that nobody could achieve that time, or the 390 karts weren't available yet. Or maybe since they're new, they're still looking for the average time for them to set as the benchmark time
Wow that's a crazy benchmark to achieve 1:20 on the 270cc! But it would be strange they wouldn't want people to qualify for the 390cc, as they are pricer karts it would bring in good business! Agree with you, as they recently opened the best guess is they are still benchmarking the times to qualify. But from some of my hearings I heard many people complain about the 270cc being underpowered? Maybe your friend had a kart that could have had underpower issues which compromised from setting faster times?
+10 second penalty to Esteban Ocon
🤣
Thanks for the video bro. I did 1:39:204 🤩
Welcome! and good job on the time! 👍
Hello, is current layout different? Looks like long version compared to now
Hey! Yes this is the longer layout called Mega Track by MyKart Raceway. It's a seasonal layout extension of the normal track, and they would extend the track for a selected few days of the month usually. You can check their instagram when they will announce the Mega Track extension days 😃

@@rexxy-val9172 what the person meant was shifting from races at sepang's go kart track to this one 🤦🏽♂️ not the F1 track
Could you share whether the karts feel underpowered compared to other tracks like Sunway or Puchong?
Personally, from feeling, the karts at LYL karting don't feel overly underpowered for a regular GX270cc engine for me? I only noticed it has a slightly slower transmission or needs time to gradually build up speed when accelerating fully. This is in comparison to the SODI RT10 (270cc) I drove previously which had a more immediate transmission of speed when accelerating fully. Comparing to places like Sunway Traxion, I would say from feeling (which may not be accurate), is that they didn't cap their engines. Perhaps it could reach maximum potential in terms of speed. Although since it's indoors and a shorter track it won't reach higher top speeds as well as LYL's circuit with the long straights. Whereas for LYL SODI RT8 karts, I felt (although I could be mistaken) the engine had a speed cap/limit where it won't go any faster once it's reached the cap. I observed this from separate sessions with other faster drivers than me. Where our kart's top speed according to the TV leaderboards had all the same maximum speed. None of us went higher than the exact same 51 km/per hour caught under the speed trap records. 🤷♂️ I heard talk from other drivers they felt their kart was underpowered as well? Hence, I am not entirely sure about the underperformance situation. For myself, it felt like a regular 270cc with maybe a more gradual transmission and a top speed limiter. Aside from the speed, the karts have decent handling performance. Of course if you or anyone else have further reports of underpower I would like to hear more on it as well! Or if the top speeds can go higher than the 51km/h.😊
@@jokartstraxion lock their turning radius, where else LYL track prefer you to have consistency rather than overtaking. Try leaving a gap enough for you to do a time attack. Compared with traxion, LYL's karts are set more equally same as you will see in the end result timing, you won't see one kart in particular which is super fast. And also the way the track was designed does rely more on driver's braking skills. Places where you find your tyres skidding, try to brake abit before apex to have an earlier acceleration, hopefully you will get a better time.
Hi, I love your video. Btw do you mind sharing your action 4 parameter and setup?
Hello and thanks! My Action 4 setup : 1. I use a chin mount on my full face helmet, positioned just below my eyeline so I know where the POV is covering. 2. I use the ultra wide view option and capture my footage in 4K/50 FPS, D-LOG M mode. 3. I occasionally, adjust the sharpness or noise reduction (minus both) on the settings depending on light conditions, etc. Thats about it, the rest are on auto modes.
@@jokarts Thanks for your sharing! Appreciate it, hope we'll meet at the track one day! 😉
hi, may ask must wear full face ?
Hello! Yes, LYL karting provides full face helmets for borrowing during the kart session. Recommend to wear full-face as it's more protective especially on a faster circuit like LYL. 😊
If you want to die don’t wear it lol
Any pointers on track layouts? I like your lines but since I am heavy I suspect I will have to do more lifting and coasting else I will lose a lot of time. I am close to 95kgs.
Some pointers would be to use the full width of the track to maximise speed in the corners, as this circuit is quite wide. Have good exit out of the slower corners trying to be early on the throttle. Be confident on the brakes at the hairpin corners (apply gradually the pressure on brakes, and not too hard suddenly). For the tight S corners before the tunnel, slow in and as you tackle the S try to gently tap the accelerator through the mini turns to get enough turn in and be smooth out of it. For the exit of the tunnel entering the uphill to the bridge section, avoid going too wide there as its easy to do so at full speed and its a really long corner. Recommend to stay clear of the kerbs if you don't want to lose too much time or bounce the kart all over. Also, perhaps try to kart in a dry session as the wet track is slippery, esp since the tyres are only slicks. Thanks! However, my lines on my first lap is not the best reference! My session was a semi-wet track so the grip and lines I took was a little all over the place as I couldn't find traction.😅 Think you can try doing lift and coast for a few laps and maybe when the kart is warmed up you can try the braking more as I found braking can be much faster from experience (I used to be a lift and coast guy too). Just have to keep the engine revs up in the corners (e.g. maybe brake earlier, coast a little and try to feed the accelerator by mid corner to keep the revs going, and when you get enough turn in to make the corner you go full throttle out of it). Most importantly, just have fun and enjoy the experience karting on this circuit! I've done around 10 laps there, and I am still learning its characteristics (it's really long at 1.5km), especially nailing the tighter and uphill corners. 😄
Is It A Rental Karting?
Yep, these are rental karts using the SODI RT8 270cc kart variant. Rental per 10 minute session is RM 70. This is an opening promotion price for this new circuit!

hello is this the 75rm/kart one ?
Hey there! Yes, this is the Stage 2 kart (RM 75) at Rud Sutera Mall Johor 😄
how does ferkart rkz compare to sodi rsx2 ?
The ferkart rkz advertises a higher top speed and feels smaller in design size if im not mistaken, so slightly more nimble on the tight corners, which is good for low-speed venues. Whereas the sodis are more feature-rich on kart tech, driver ergonomics and probably has slightly better handling/balance on a variety of tracks. Its hard to judge both on low-speed indoor tracks as they perform quite decently. Deciding factors can include how well they're maintained and setup by the karting venue for optimal drivability (as e-karts can be capped from their top speed by the marshals). I've tried the ferkart rkz at 2 different karting venues, if its not setup properly it can feel quite sluggish and exhausting to drive. Mykart raceway feels just right in handling (if i can remember it tends to be more snappy on turn in), although the throttle response needs some learning as it has a slight delay before the power kicks in.

Good timings on both levels, keep it up 👍🏻 ^^. Think when freeway first opened the karts had low pressures, which I felt was draggy at corners and they digged into the track. Few months I returned for the second time, the entry level tyres felt more balanced in pressures.
