    So I found a “poop sack” in each mussel, which stays intact if you remove the beard BEFORE cooking (which is REALLY hard to do, at least for me, using fresh mussels from the beach). But it pulls apart when you remove the beard AFTER cooking - what is this brown stuff and is it ok to eat? I imagine it is the “poop” … does not taste BAD but maybe isn’t the best for you?

      The salmon is smoked which you can eat as it is but even if you add thin slices of raw salmon then it needs just a few seconds to cook. So don`t worry.

    I disagree. The taut line hitch is an ok knot, but the Farrimond friction hitch is fast, easy to tie and second only to the truckers hitch in holding power.

    • @AdmerosFood

      Good point! Farrimond friction hitch works great. Thanks !

    • @TheJacov
      @TheJacov 5 месяцев назад

      @@AdmerosFood I like learning new knots and I have found that except for fancywork, typically the KISS principle is the way to go for practical knotwork and there are only a few classes of knots that cover 99% of your needs for almost any purpose and in many cases there are more than one way to tie them.😁😁😁 (edited for spelling) 🙃

    • @TheJacov
      @TheJacov 5 месяцев назад

      @@AdmerosFood Also I do wish to point out that in many cases the taut line hitch is quite functional for light work such as tarp tensioning and it is quite quick and easy to tie so it is good to know it.😁😁😁
