Making a Clock Winding Gear (reduction gear)
Very well equipped workshop and beautifully made
Very interesting! I enjoyed watching. Should be more between centres work in the world. 🤠 I’d much rather hear you describing what you are doing than free to use music. Measuring rotating parts while the cutter is spinning also seems like a bad thing to be teaching people. I bet you aren’t that short of time 🤠
Ive mounted a square file in the tail stock and locked the head . Then by hand slid the tailstock on the bed to establish your square just under sized. Then remove from lathe and do the final fitting as you do.
Very nice repair
Excellent tailstock alignment. Does the pinion need to be remembered again??
You have to line the pinion up with the arbor and the brass gear.
The new pivot has to be concentric with the pinion and the brass gear.
Beautiful work way beyond my skill, thanks. Mind you I would be careful reaching over and around a spinning lathe with baggy shirt sleeves, hope you don’t mind the observation it might help others.
Jó ötlet! Gratulálok!
Very interesting and delicate work, thanks for sharing
We are using water hardenable tool steel. It comes from MSC.
Did you automate your milling machine? I noticed it's advancing thru the work without you manually engaging the factory nut on the table. Love to see a video on how you did it. Great stuff. Hope to see more videos.
Very nice. What indexing head do you have that fits so well on the Atlas? Well done.
Sorry, all my tools are antiques and I am not sure where they came from.
A credit to you 👍🏻
Fantastic video . Cheers.👍
Fantastic workshop.
what drill bits are u using and where can i get the continental pivoting device? the bits i been using always break
I use Spade drill bits. You can get them at Timesavers. Look in the catalog on page 109. Use the carbon steel bits. The carbide bits will break. The Continental Pivoting Device you will have to make. They aren't manufacturing them anymore. Maybe you can find a used one at a clock show. Good luck. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
I Thanks that you Show how this Small parts are Build. This ist hapynes it to See and later in a watch work
👍👍👍 I hope the watch work

Hola amigo. Gracias por ver mi vídeo. No estoy seguro de que tu pregunta esté traducida correctamente. Compré los cortadores en este sitio web. ppthornton.com/
@@fendley-coxantiqueclocks mil gracias amigo
Wow what an interesting man you are, and what beautiful work you have done restoring all of these fantastic clocks and music boxes, many thanks for the wonderful video. Jim from AUSTRALIA.
1:06 Are all those little gear cutters custom made, or is there somewhere you can buy them? Standard size cutters are much too large for my mini mill to handle.
The are Thornton Gear Cutters. They are made in England. Check their website.ppthornton.com/product/wheel-cutter/
@@fendley-coxantiqueclocks Thank you!
Beautiful beautiful work and so very interesting the way you go about it is so logical. Many many thanks. Jim from AUSTRALIA.
Excellent!!
Thank you for your excellent videos. Can you please tell me where you get your wheel cutters from.
They are from Thornton. Here is their website address ppthornton.com/product/recoil-escape-cutter/
What material are you using,thanks
Thank you, just what I needed. You make it look easy but I know it isn’t; can I ask what type of solder you use, is it silver solder or standard soft (plumbers) solder? This is a great little channel and you deserve more subscribers, thank you for taking the time to film and post.
We use soft solder (plumbers) . Use c-flux by Rectorseal. Thanks
Thank you Richard. Great video!
Many many thanks for the wonderful video of re pivoting, I like the way everything is kept straight. Jim from AUSTRALIA.
Another great video!!
Richard, this is a very informative instructional video!! I don't think I have the necessary skills or the equipment to do such the job as you, So I will keep sending them to you to repair.
Thank you for the video. I have sometimes struggled with removing temper. I think the brass heat sink will allow me to have better success. Thanks again!
Instead of making a rude comment about your video I would like to congratulate you for taking the time to share your experience with those who appreciate it, starting with myself I would like to say thankyou. Jim from AUSTRALIA.
Thanks again for fantastic video, I love those collets that hold the newly cut wheels for making them concentric, did you specially make those or did you have to buy them from suppliers? anyway I look forward to seeing next one, thanks. Jim from AUSTRALIA.
Many many thanks for the wonderful video on wheel cutting, what a great idea, saves a lot of time otherwise and what fantastic looking job. Thanks again. Jim from AUSTRALIA. ❤😊
Thank you. Very nice process.
Thank you for the video. Very interesting method to replace teeth without having to cross out a new wheel.
