My parents divorced when my brother (2yo) and I (5yo) were young, and I've been chasing my father ever since. He has never been the one to initiate contact between us, even as we grew older and he didn't have to negotiate with Mum. For as long as I can remember, I've been chasing him for love and validation. He remarried and had 4 more children-2 sons and 2 daughters-and I still chased him. Seeking the love I observed him openly display with his new family. No phone calls, no birthday cards, no visits or attending my sports matches or school events, awards, or graduations. Never invited to share regular family time with my younger brothers and sisters at his home. He divorced again and has partnered with a petty and insecure woman and he's raised her two children, a boy and a girl. I even bought them return flights so they could attend my 50th birthday. I planned out what little time we had together with activities she would like to show her she was thought of and included. He told me he couldn't be away from the house and pets for more than three days, and every day another excuse would manifest as to why they couldn't stay long; eventually they had the tickets refunded and didn't come. Ironically, a few months later they could go away for a whole week without any concerns for the issues they'd previously expressed! At the age of 53, I've finally woken up to the harsh reality that he will never love, cherish, value, or protect me as much as he has with those who have come after me. This song is very beautiful, so much so that it makes me cry. The pain in my heart now that I realise he won't ever be proud to say I am his daughter the way he has for these other children is beyond measure. No longer blinded by childhood ideals nor adult validation. Thank goodness I married a beautiful man who loves all of our three children (two boys from a previous relationship who were adopted by my husband). Husband cried the day he found out the news that, as he puts it, was going to be a Dad again (bio didn't dispute the adoption, and it took him 15 minutes to reach that decision, as long as I wiped all of the child support he owed, about 30k). I count myself very lucky to have my own beautiful family. I love you fambam ❤❤❤❤❤

Im 45 and miss my Dad so much. We found out he had cancer within 3 months he passed away. July 30, 2024 will be a day we will not forget. Our Mom has bad days they were married 61 yrs 10 days before he passed away.

I lost my Dad almost 30 years ago,Im so frustrated until today due to the fact that my very first Son was about to be born within days, and I couldn't travel overseas,so suddenly!
