Hand Spinning Different Breeds: Southern Welsh Mountain Wool.

The sheep bred on the southern hills of the Welsh countryside are hardy and tough and their wool definitely reflects these characteristics, and while its not the easiest hand spinning wool, it is certainly one full of character.
Hand Spinning Different Breeds: Falkland Wool *Naturally So White!*
Просмотров 624Год назад
Falkland wool is a bit of a strange one to hand spin as its named for a location rather than a breed and so can be quite variable. But its still a very nice wool to work with as its primarily a merino and that little hint of extra whiteness is worth the extra effort.
Hand Spinning Different Breeds: Jacob Wool Profile

Hand spinning Jacob wool is possibly one of the nicest things you can do. And that's not much of an exaggeration- it's a very balanced and easy wool to worth with that seems to almost want to be spun and used. As a bonus its also readily available, tends to be very cheap and is not too course to be used for clothing. Overall this is one of my favourite wools and one i return to time and time ag...

Hand Spinning Different Breeds: Herdwick Wool Profile

In this next installment of the wool breed mini series we are going to take a look at Herdwick, a lovely but rather specialized wool for hand spinners. Its easy to work with but definitely not he easiest to use the end product as Herdwick wool is remarkably full of kemp. But its fun and very satisfying to spin, especially long draw, certainly worth looking at if you are a slightly more experien...

I’ve just got 200g of Jacob for spinning (only a small amount as I spin on drop spindles) and I have to say it spins like butter - so smooth, so consistent with very little attention on my part! Not sure what I’m going to make with it yet, but I’m really looking forward to it.

Thank you for your series introducing various sheep breeds. I enjoyed your style of videography it's almost as if I could reach in and feel the fibre. I started my spinning journey during Covid lockdown. As per I wanted to do all the things, so very quickly I bought a breed study and was over whelmed as to how and what to do with it/final project. I have decided to essentially follow the examples and sampling in the Fleece and Fibre book, and have my own tactile sample page rather than a blanket or something similar. Looking forward to more breeds! ..... if that is your plan. Thank you again

is there a reason why you go in front of the yarn when you say yarn over and then on another stitch go behind the yarn the next time you say yarn over? i'm just curious as i am about as skilled as knit one crochet two. lol would this stitch make a good one for a man's scarf?
