@@lisalauridson7982 I hold on to the good memories. He left me his little plot of land and house, I haven't changed anything yet. I just go down there and sit on his spot on the couch and just feel the energy. I get a lot of good thinking done there. I appreciate y'all kind words
Wow when U said that with a place and sit I and Chuck always had a spot at the park at a bench and feed the geese I go there every day and think of the good times we had. And we have to take care of ourselves, I had to learn that for myself 14 wonderful yrs I had with him ❤️. Thankyou for the note.
@@lisalauridson7982 of course hun. And we gotta look out for one another while we're still down here in this arena called earth. And we'll see our loved ones again in the clearing at the end of the path <3
When did this first get recorded? I always wondered about it being in the movie, "Kelly's Heroes" and if it was actually a song that could have been sung during WW2...
Thank you so much!my grandma used to sing this song all the time when I was a kid and for some reason it was on my mind and I decided to see if I could find it... Wonderful!
+Kenneth Berg The song was first published in 1912 by John Stark and then subsequently by M. Witmark. John Stark is famous as the publisher of piano rags, most famously some of the first rags by Scott Joplin. The song was used in 1912 for Champ Clark's unsuccessful presidential election campaign. You can find the sheet music on the Lester Levy website: levysheetmusic.mse.jhu.edu/catalog/levy:154a.035
The song comes from Beautiful Buffalo River. People have previously uploaded it and taken it down every time, the rather questionable audio from this video comes from one of those. The record is a real collectors item, but you can pick up the CD at www.jimmydriftwoodlegacyproject.com/ for 12 bucks. Haven't ordered their collections so can't speak to the quality.

I finally figured out what song my Dad was singing, the only line I remembered was 'every time I go to town, the boys keep kicking my dog around'.

I’m 15 now. But when I was little he sang this to me all the time. He still sings it now sometimes. It’s great
"His voice is sweet, He'd fight for me and I'd fight for him"

Whybother123 The Jimmy Driftwood Legacy people are not answering their emails as I've been trying to get in touch for months with no joy.
Hrm. They responded to mine, but that was a year ago or more.
I'd love to get a clear copy of this too. I've been collecting Jimmie's stuff for a few years now too but have always wanted this particular song.
