Got a very special song cover to me this time, and it's because the lyrics resonate with me on a very deep, very personal level, as the story Tracy tells with this song are very close to what my life could have turned into with my ex-wife had she not had the good sense to leave me when she did. I hope you all enjoy my best attempt to cover it. Played on my Ovation 1862 Custom Balladeer strung w...

I first learned of this song from Iam Tongi on American Idol when he gave one of the most emotional performances I have ever heard, and while I can't hope to match that level of intensity he brought to the song, since I don't personally know the pain of that loss like he does, I still wanted to do my best to cover it because I feel it's beautiful song. Played on my Blueridge BR-340 Gospel strun...

Hey everyone! Today I'll be doing a song that's sort of by request. This gorgeous young lady I know is a huge fan of Morgan Wallen and wanted me to try and learn something for her by him. I learned this one months ago but never got to properly cover it for her, since I was recovering from a dental surgery at the time I learned it. So Berenice this one's for you! After nearly 14 years of playing guitar, I finally decided to splurge and buy myself something that's actually high end. Don't get me wrong, I have some moderately expensive gear, my Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Hummingbird, Washburn Solo DeLuxe and Ovation 1862 Custom Balladeer are all worth around $1,000, but none of them scratched the itch to own something that is heirloom worthy for me. So I...

My husband told me today that he had a Framus as a teen, mentioning that it was a German make. This is the first I had heard of this brand. I wanted to know more about it. This video was interesting.
Nice shootout. I just acquired a 1983 RS505 CS and Im thrilled ❤
I got my Blue Kona K1 (non electric) at the big American Pawn in Garland off 30 & Beltline back in probably 2004 for $80. They had the red one sitting right by it and i grabbed it, but noticed it was missing a bridge pin, so i grabbed the blue one. Its been my favorite acoustic ever since. You can tell by its looks its been heavily played
You need to put This on Spotify
I have one of these exact Kona models from 2006/7. Has the construction or materials used, changed since 2006?
How many guitars do you have?
Nice job on Wildwood Flower and Dust in the Wind. I have the black version. I got it for free and set it up myself. It wasn't worth paying someone to do it. It's definitely mid-grade Chinesium wood with genuine sticker inlays. After everything I did to it actually stays in tune. I was also given the Esteban non electric acoustic which was totally worse construction. That one I donated to a homeless shelter, quite fitting I think since I didn't want to have it a home. Seriously though, there's a couple guys there that actually make it sound okay and constantly change the tuning.
I have an EF349, bought new in late 80s (has point top headstock). Sounds awesome, plays great. Favorite guitar for 30 years. Played out Monday with it. Recorded with it. Your recording sounds like mine, tone is coming through well. Thanks for all the history!
I have bought many and set them up to play great. There are zero other brands at this price point that give you the look of that one. Playability and looks are two different things and you cant possibly act clueless on these two issues and why someone would rather buy a knockoff martin than get ripped by martin for 10k
The finish on yours looks more glossy than my new Chinese one. Did you do something to it?
I just bought two Chinese-made Hummingbirds from Sweetwater to see which color I'd preferred, intending to send one back. To my surprise, they sounded different. One definitely had the mojo. The other? Not so much. Maybe it was the strings, but maybe it's the quality control issue you're talking about.
These guitars are just garbage
Why would anyone waste money on these junk guitars. There is an old saying about a fool and his money.
Change the strings they’re Chinese. That’s why I didn’t sound good.
The strings weren't stock, they were D'addario 12-53
Dude, it’s a $250 guitar and it does sound good
I'm aware of what they go for but, I disagree on the sound. It's horrifically unintonated so it never sounds in tune. The tone is dull, there's no sustain on the notes and most importantly, it didn't feel good to play. The neck was awful, both the fret edges and the edges of the fretboard itself were sharp and wouldn't hold tune. There are MUCH better guitars out there even at $250.
Two ticks sharp on the E string isn't bad off. I seen worse on much more expensive guitars. If you're that particular, it's an easy enough fix.
Great video
On peut payer avec de l'argent Monopoly?😂😅😂
Sounds not horrible
You got lucky and got one of the older non China made ones. All made in China now.
I bought the Enya Go SP1 on a whim on sale for $190 bucks with the full kit (case, cable etc etc) and out of the box it was awful but after adjusting the neck it fell in tune and I’ve been playing it for 3 days and am out of my mind in love with it! Looked up videos to see if this one is worth it and sounds like it is a must buy. I have too many guitars to count but am always looking for new sounds and this is my first carbon fiber and my first built in FX guitar. So fun. I’ve written 3 new songs in 3 days playing with this thing. It’s been inspiring. Thanks for the great vid review. Now I just need to learn how to set up bridge action on my own because that’s something that intimidates me and I’ve never tackled it before.
You wore neither the sombrero nor the aviators, and you expected this to sound amazing? C'mon.
I've played dozens of Chinese knockoffs and most play and sound as good if not better than the real things. But I do understand how it would hurt someone's feelings who got ripped by Martin.
$250 all day from China !!
Let’s here the comparison.
I have an Epi Dove made in china , QC on it is good . My fretting fingers are my secret , they are not made in Indonesia or China . I think a lot of Tone is through the fingers .
There’s one at my local goodwill for $20 right now. I have to many guitars but I’m thinking about it
Good point about bridge pins! Stock are v irritating
I just found one of these on FB marketplace and it also has a jacked up 12th fret marker, LOLOLOL +1 for consistency?
Put a set of D'Addario XS strings and voila, MARTIN SOUND !!!
I owned a '76-'77 Ibanez concord hummingbird (Japan), which at the time, met or exceeded Gibson's sound quality. Years past, l foolishly traded this guitar for an amp. I just recently purchased a new Gibson original because i wanted to emulate that that Ibanez sound.
What strings you use?
It’s a cheap guitar for people who can’t afford a real Martin
Most informative review I’ve seen on this guitar and I’ve watched several vids already. Thanks!
Bought mine 2 years ago…Still LOVE IT.
This is ace!! Well done my man!!
You should have saved that 600.00 dollars and later on buy a real martin I own 2 I have a d-28 and a all mahogany d-15 600.00 dollars is a lot of money for a garbage knock off just to hang on the wall.
@@MackenzieGroome we didn't pay a dime for it. It was hung on our shop's wall on consignment, all we did was sell it for the customer and take 15% of the sale
I agree with the laminate. I have a br-40 and it is now 20 years old. Both the spruce and the layered rosewood have aged to produce much better tone. I prefer it over my d10e sapele
There's a lot of urbans out there which one is yours
I'm interested in your thoughts on this, Brian. You know how I feel about my Hummingbird, brother man 👍
Hey Randy! My thoughts are a bit split. On the one hand, the Hummingbird sounds richer and deeper to me, and I find it easier to sing with which makes me prefer it as a rhythm instrument. The Martin on the other hand is louder in the room and works really well as a lead acoustic for some riffing and acoustic solos. If I had to pick just one, I'd personally go with the Hummingbird though, not only because I'm a rhythm player, but also because the fit and finish on it is nicer and the neck feels better to me!
@BrianMcCullarMusic If it helps any, I also thought the Martin was louder. It didn't sound bad at all, but that Hummingbird is just so sweet sounding. Always appreciate you, brother man 👍
@@randysrhythm I appreciate that! There's two more comparisons coming over the next two days!
Its a great song, the words are like an anthem for my deceased son in law( 33 yrs. young) God let his doul rest in peace. God bless you too man Nice job. Tu Ron P. W.NY
I like the bright tone
Pretty boxy sounding but it's say plugged sounds pretty full. I'm used to a full body dread good picking sir keep using your God gift
I got one of these at the beginning of 2024. It's fantastic. I took it straight to a local guitar tech because there was a little fret buzzing, and I'd heard of the inconsistencies regarding quality. He did a little tinkering, though nothing beyond the usual set up, and it sounds excellent.
I've Got mine since 2020 and it's a good guitar...Surprisingly perfect and well balanced in sound. Nothing to say..The only problem was some buzz on the lower strings that I solved raising the action, by putting a small spacer under the bridge....I've payed mine 'bout 850 euros at that time...
According to the official website, Eiphone Hummingbird pro (now renamed studio) has "Mahogany" back and side, whatever that means.
The proof would be to record a famous acoustic guitar song then ask people what they think of the guitar then tell them it was played with a carbon fiber guitar.
No tap dealy and no loop recording. That's the only thing missing. Great sounding guitar. Yamaha have new model with loop and tap delay but it cost 1,700 dollars.. so this guitar is a great option but not buying it befor a tap delay & loop recording option.
Wanna huge improvement in tone? Projection? Resonance with that guitar? Get rid of that 2 lb chunk of sound robbing rubber they call a pick gaurd on the top! I replaced it with a small ultra thin and hard pick guard... More like one you will find on a Martin or Taylor.. it is a sound board for Gods sake... The Gibson gaurds are thinner and MUCH harder material, gummy near rubber they use is AWFUL FOR THE TONE OVERALL!!
Sooooo true Took mine off….. massive upgrade!
I think you deserve a comment by now so here goes.... I have a 1980 Takamine F-349. While it sounds great, I am not sure it sounds a s good as yours... but then it may just be you're a better guitar player than me.
