If you haven't looked it up already; The best way to explain what happened to Goku at the end of GT is that he's ascended to a higher plane of existence with Shenron, meaning he'll probably be around to defend the earth forever, in any other situation where this series could've gotten more extended development or lore this would probably be the best way to end the series for good. Everyone can live their lives in peace without having to worry about these threats because an eternal defender will handle it, and Goku's family is no longer shackled to be defenders of Earth. But as we know that's not the case with this series sadly

DBZ, I like the action. I love OG Dragon Ball the most and it's hard to think of anything I wouldn't like with that series 🤔 but yeah, with DBZ the first thing that comes to mind is the fighting and important moments. GT is still a work in progress, I feel like I'll never know how I truly feel about it since I haven't experienced rewatching it in these couple years (I don't think what you said counts as a hot take)

About what you were saying with Fights vs Story: you're absolutely right, without a shadow of a doubt but that's unironically the biggest sin the Anime writers especially the Dub ones ever committed, but I think it's a genuinely important convo to be had Akira Toriyama as a writer was perfectly capable of doing both, which is why the Manga is usually more appreciated for its story telling but when it was translated (for the dub especially) a lot of that was lost and it led to a lot of the divide the fandom has now when you look at it

I can't say much about my opinions on this Saga yet but I will say that the concept of the Dragon Balls negative energy thing, while on the surface may seem weird (even I thought it was kind of dumb when I first saw it), there isn't anything about it that directly contradicts what we know about the Dragon Balls. after all they were originally on a peace loving planet like Namek and guarded by the residents who would test anyone seeking them for the purity of their wish which lines up with the fact they were never meant to be on Earth (a planet that isn't anything close to peace loving like Namek whatsoever) at all, and as well, why would they separate and turn into stone at all if using them repeatedly or collecting them constantly wasn't a problem right? If anything it's a more unique take on the idea of the Dragon Balls that is kind of iffy but I would say there's at least thought put in it
