Such a gorgeous tank! The flowers are so lovely
Thank you, Ms. Hodges - for the compliment and the support!
Hate the bright screen. 👎
What are you referring to? Is it something I can correct?
Not only do I learn about Aquariums watching your channel but I also get a vocabulary lesson. Today's new word is EPHEMERAL: Lasting for a very short time. Thanks
Thank you, HOS! Sorry about all the "50 cent" words. I'll speak more perspicuously moving forward.
thanks!
You're welcome :)
Fantastic.
Appreciate you, William! Thank you for the compliment :)
Could you give guidance... I have 3 different varieties of Rotala plants in my aquarium. They seem to have been covered with layer of light brown colour. The water is clear, no problem. Its on rocks too. I remove and scrub the rocks😊 ... But what to do with my plants? ☘️ It is not green algae.. My tank is placed near the window.. so now I applied a black plastic to the back. Your suggestion .. thanks 👍 You tank looks awesome 👍 small and beautiful😊 🎉
this needs some ghost catfish!
AKA Glass Catfish. For the see through bodies!
When you use CO2 and nutrient fertilizers the aquatic plants can flower underwater because theyre experiencing conditions closely similar to being exposed to the air. They cannot be pollinated underwater though.
Great insight, Luke. thank you for pointing that out :)
An unopened blossom is called a bud, flower bud
It sure is. How I forgot is probably due to inhaling too much CO2 in the fish room 😜
A Bud
@@sharonoliver2215 thanks “buddy!”😄
Is the buce for sure not catherinae it looks a lot like the catherinae I got from Buceplant along time ago?
@@Outside-InAquatics a very adroit guess. I’m simply not sure. I bought it a long time ago, it was small, and I wasn’t taking notes 🤔
Man one of these days I'm gonna bug you to come check out your place. I have to see these tanks in person. Always stunning man.
@@Outside-InAquatics you’re welcome here anytime!
Took a bit of research but aquatic plants reproduce in three ways…by rhizomes, I.e., creating clones; by flowering above water where the seeds are distributed by animals and also by water; and by flowering underwater and using water currents to distribute the seeds, just as terrestrial plants use wind currents. Phew! Had to use two different search apps to find this…Google was the winner. I also saw a photo of a large azalea flowering underwater…which. Blew me away!
Holy wow! That is beautiful. Clearly a happy tank! A bud precedes the bloom…I’ve decided blanking words is a sign of wisdom, due to my huge accumulation of words, not age!
Thank you so much for the kind words, Sharon. And for supporting me in general 😇
Looking great sir thanks for sharing 😊
@@jeffkane4391 thank you, Jeff - for the compliment and for stopping by!
I remember when my annibus bloomed. I was so excited. Enjoy all of yours!
@@tracys.6033 they are so unpredictably sporadic that we must consider the flowers as special gifts. I do anyway!
❤❤❤from poland❤❤❤
Lotus will flower but they have to transition to the "lily pad" versions first. Anubias, buce, and others weren't really meant to flower underwater. Buces are naturally in small tributaries and Anubias grow at the edges of the rivers where they will be exposed during drier seasons. It's us humans who keep on growing them on deep waters all year long.
@@MorningDriftwood so, the underwater flowers serve no role in propagation? Another commenter suggested the pollen may flow through currents to other plants but I had my doubts…
@@LushSaltyAquariums if that was the case then it should be common for aquarists to have seed-bearing plants since the pollen and ovums are in enclosed environments where they're more likely to meet but that's not the case at all.
@@MorningDriftwood Thought as much. I think the underwater blooms are pointless toward propagating the species unless timed with depleted water that reveals them, i.e. a drought or natural drying period. Yes?
The Anubias flowers may last longer because they're outside the water. Unopened flowers are "buds". The Bucephalandra looks like a "Kedagang".
@@MorningDriftwood thank you three times over! I think you’re right about the buce being a kedagang.
Love the rummynose rasboras too.
@@AkbarZeb-p6f yes, their slate color and red highlights is very appealing and unique.
those pygmy corys are awesome.
I have several huge anubias plants I've had for nearly 7 years. They flowered twice within the first year I had them when they were still very small and never again! I wish they would have flowers again someday.
@@MadameLacrymosa unlike terrestrial seasonal plants our underwater friends are very hard to predict in terms of flowering. Thank you for stopping by :)
What temperature do you keep your tanks at, is that a constant for all your tanks?
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. I generally keep tanks between 77 and 80F.
Would a 100g bag do a 55g and a 5g tank?
Always a pleasure to see my anubias flower. Can remember one plant i had . It sent out a long stalk out of water, beautiful bloom.
They are a gift, Jose!
Pretty cool, thanks for sharing
And thank you for stopping by and commenting :)
The unopened bloom is a bud
Thanks, "Bud!" I forgot this obvious fact while recording. Prolly inhaling too much C02 :)
The purpose of aquatic plants blooming is to reproduce by producing seeds through pollination, which is achieved by their flowers attracting pollinators like insects or utilizing water currents to transfer pollen, thus allowing them to spread and establish new plant populations within the aquatic environment; essentially, the blooming process is a key part of their reproductive cycle.
So... the underwater plants, when they flower, actually release pollen into the water current to be spread to other plants? Of course, I know that terrestrial flowers attract insects to spread pollen but was ignorant of the process in terms of blooms underwater. Thank you for your thoughtful responses!
Happy tank!
Happy tank. Happy Fishkeeper. And the flowers really help spread the joy!
Liked / Algorithm.
Me and the Algo thank you! (Just noticed the abbreviation for algorithm is very close to "algae." 🤣
Just wanted to let you know that you inspired me to get the long fin albino corys. I picked up six this last weekend. I found yours to be so beautiful. Mine are just babies at the moment, but I wanted to say thank you for showcasing yours! And yet again, another beautiful tank! And an unopened bloom is a "bud." ❤
So glad I was able to provide inspiration for you! Good luck with your "babies!"
@@LushSaltyAquariums Thank you! I'm looking forward to watching them grow 🤗
@@jodip719 They grow slowly but are quite durable little creatures.
Just a beautiful tank, Steffan. Nice combination of red and greens. 🙂

Ok brother I am from India in tamilnadu @@LushSaltyAquariums
rare my a$$
I think they were $9 each so fairly reasonable, given I'd never seen them before in my life!
@LushSaltyAquariums do more research before you open your mouth to the world, the fish community laughed so hard when you said they were rare, not trying to be mean , just honest
That's the first time I've ever seen or heard of a albino pygmy Cory that's pretty cool.
@@markfranklin8831 first for me as well! Had to have ‘em. They are from Moonlight aquatics.
@LushSaltyAquariums awesome little fish. Thanks for the information. Great video
@@markfranklin8831 My pleasure and privilege to help. I'd love to see your aquarium(s) but you don't have a YT channel. Do you share pics anywhere online?
Great tank. Nano tanks are the best.
@@thepocketshot thank you pocket shot. Been a minute since you busted my fishroom - thank you!
What a pleasure to see the Cory's are getting comfortable enough to come out of hiding for you to enjoy them. They are gorgeous little creatures! Tank looks awesome.
Thank you, Tracy. They were not camera shy today!
Do you have clay pellets in the bottom and then sand on the top?
Correct!
I loved that rilli shrimp Stefan I might be looking for some of those in 🇬🇧
So cool and I got it through random shrimp breeding - mostly blue dreams.
When the tiny tank gets far more maintenance than the largest one.
Very true! Larger tanks are more stable and there is so much more time and space for plants to grow.
As is tradition, my guy, I am left in Awe!
You're too kind, my friend. It's no secret: Good light. Nutrient rich substrate. Water changes. Ideally C02. And maybe the biggest thing: Overplant at the beginning.
@LushSaltyAquariums Anyone can do those, but your sense of where and how with each part of the decor is what sets your tanks apart from others.
Every fish in this tank is gorgeous. Your bos and dwarfs shimmer so bright theyre stunning! Ive got them too and i get the same kind of shimmer in the morning with direct sunlight but cant get the those kinds of colours when relying on my light. What light do you have on to get those colours
I use two Kessils for the main effect and I've also got a budget LED up in the hood, more because I had it than need it.
Everyone of your tanks I swear make me think ooooooooo and aaaaaaahhh . Always such a complimentary balance with colors and robust plant growth 😁👍
Thank you so much, Patty. Lot of effort. Lot of mistakes. Lot of love. What it takes to get results. As you well know!
Amazing tank Stephan ,how do you keep your super Buce black beard free ?🎉😊❤
Thank you for the compliment. I generally keep BBA and other algae at bay with great light, CO2, water changes and ESPECIALLY tons of other plants!
Wow I've never seen an albino pygmy cory. Very cute
i dont even know what one is!
I thought so as well. I ordered them as soon as I saw them!
@jeremyversusjazz it's a freshwater pygmy corydoras catfish
Love the moss trick, keeping it off the ground to give it a chance.
It really makes a big difference! Try it :)
I've never been interested in playtys but 11:00 has me changing my mind
