Muzzleloader loaders are like an old fashioned fire arm, but at this point it’s a special class in hunting. You load the parts of a cartridge individually thru the end of the muzzle. Like in my area, muzzleloaders can be used at different times of the year than the typical fire arm. I’m sure some soldiers during the Civil War used muzzleloaders. They were pretty common up through about 1860, and probably later for the common folk. Cartridges as we know it weren’t invented until 1860. Before that, people would wrap the parts in a paper packet and shove it down the muzzle that way.
