Building a Walnut Danish Cord Lounge Chair
This is a Walnut Danish Papercord lounge chair that was an awesome piece to make. I had a few issues that stressed me out during the build but was able to persevere. I'm a big fan of the Danish papercord in projects and I hope to use it more papercord in projects in the future. It is a beautiful medium that keeps that classic Mid Century Modern look to pieces. I really enjoyed this build and hope you all enjoy it too. I'll be making a video on how I weaved this bench soon so stay tuned!

Nice build and what a beautiful model you have for showing off these creations of yours.
Thanks so much!
Amazing job, congratulations!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice. Totally agree. 👍
Glad you think so!
Just made one for my Twin grandkids, in Pine. Pity I had seen this idea before. Like the channel thank you.
Awesome!
Fantastic video ,thank you I actually make my frames this way 👍👊✨✨
Thank you! Appreciate it!
Love the camera angle and zoom. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Beautiful work! I saw one the same size for $60. I will definitely try to build one. Can you provide link for tubes? Thank you!
Thank you! I have this link for test tubes I used, amzn.to/3yS8Tpr , Hope this helps!
@@AceWoodCo Thank you so much for your quick reply. You have a new subscriber!
@@kimsutlive7812 appreciate it!
Great work mate! I like the mix of sap and heart wood. You made that look much easier than it was I am sure :)
Thanks a bunch, I really enjoyed this one! :)
Great build!!! Do you have any issues with tear out on corners when using the 1F? I’ve had mixed results on my joint quality when using the CNC directly instead of cutting a template 1st.
I haven't too many issues with joint quality. I found keeping the speed between 60-80 ipm help me, and if the joints aren't the tightest i would go to the table saw and clean it up if needed!
This video was super helpful! The instructions were terrible! How do I switch the rpms though?
Thanks for checking it out! If you open the top of the motor there will be a diagram to adjust the belt which should change the rpm to your desire. hope this helps!
Theree are items I want to frame and present that belonged to my father, watching this video is an inspiration to do the same. Great project and the box came out really nice.
ah thanks man, you should definitely do it! it makes those items so much more special
Nice art work man, really enjoyed the narration as well. Keep it up!!
Thanks man, appreciate you checking it out!
wow! very nice! How do you calculate/determine the amount of L Nails? Do you first find the center of the front and back and that is the starting point? Is it the same on the sides? Thank you!
Thank you! Yeah I typically find centre and measure towards the corners. I do 1 inch spacing for the fronts and backs and 3/8" for the side L- Nails. Hope this helps!
@@AceWoodCo Thanks dude. I think im going to try it. i did the side nails at 1/4". I hope that works out! Also - i like your design aesthetics - great work.
@@mikenguyen1578 awesome man! it should work out aswell, have fun with it!
Quick thinking on the snapped cord. That must have been a real wtf moment at first! Chair looks great, I love weaving cord it's so calming
Thanks! yes it definitely was a "uh oh" type of moment. Weaving is almost therapeutic and you feel like you get into that flow state
What kind of drill bit is that? Thanks!
Hey! It’s a called a forstner bit 👍🏽
The price is extortionate. I've an old compressor version, so won't buy a Makita one anytime soon, even though all my cordless tools are Makita.
Yeah I agree completely with that too. That's one of my gripes with this cordless nailers thats for sure.
Watched from Nova Scotia Canada 🇨🇦 its beautiful
Thank you! Cheers from Edmonton, Alberta! 🇨🇦
Ooh nice, I got the same bit to use for carving out spoons…
Nice, I’ve never dabbled in making a spoon yet, how do you like that bit for a spoon? I
@@AceWoodCo it leaves a rough finish but nothing a little hand sanding won’t solve.
Techno rap dribble music doesn’t belong on wood working videos …. Absolute fail 😢
I’ll remember that for next time!
What’s the finish?
I used my own mineral oil beeswax blend!
Sweet
Thanks! 🙌🏽
So thankful I came across your video!! Those instructions were horrible!!! You made it so much easier. Thanks!!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for your video. My eyes are tired and as you stated the included instructions are poor at best. Thanks again…
You're welcome!
Hmm. I’ll try it!
its very handy if you need to use it in pinch!
Lovely sentimental build Tony, i love the history too. A friend of ours has a tea house in Beijing with Mahjong rooms above...plastered with 'no gambling' posters 😂
Thanks James! haha it's pretty crazy how popular the game is. I think my generation is turning into my parents and having more mahjong evening nights haha
hell yeah
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
@@AceWoodCo still satisfying
Hm ive never seen a sander move like that, what is the purpose? Does it do better than a normal sander?
Yeah it just makes it more of an aggressive sander. It oscillates up and down but also spins the belt 👍🏽
Why was the sander bobbing?
It oscillates to help sand down pieces faster!
@@AceWoodCo Does it also make the belts last longer?
@@xdMrFish I don’t think it makes it last longer, probably same as the standard. In my opinion a rubber sanding block will help with the longevity of a belt sander!
I love it!
Thanks so much!
This was very helpful. Exactly what I needed to know. Thank you very much.
Glad it helped!
So much help brother thank you
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Hinge is too deep needs to be flush with the wood lots of people don’t take into account hinge depth but this affects door reveal and can sometimes lead to binding doors
Great words in a good order. 👍👍
Thanks friend, been in a bit of a slump the past few days but hopefully can turn it around this year!
@@AceWoodCo my daughter was born last November so things have been very quiet on my end too 🤔😄
Lovely! Keeping the original inserts was a great decision too 👍
Thanks a lot! those inserts are really what makes it!
Gorgeous! Love your projects 👌
Thanks Chris, appreciate the kind words!
Distance betwen nails Sir ?
The front and back spacing is 1” and the sides I found 3/8” to work well, hope this helps 👍🏽
Very wise advice
You’re killing it Acewoodco!
Thanks brah!
Genius!
It's come in clutch so many times!
Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous!
I appreciate the kind words!
The piece is beautiful 🤩
THanks, I appreciate that a ton!
Hey, I subscribe to your channel because I see your unique value in the artistic and organic forms of woodworking that you pursue that I feel sets you apart from other youtube woodworking channels. Loved your video and also have a technical question for you...what was the ball gouge that you used? Is it easy to control and would you recommend it for someone who wants to power carve, has no power carving experience, and a healthy amount of fear regarding angle grinders and getting fingers too close to a high spinning disk? Thank you!
Hey there! Thanks for watching the video! That attachment is Arbortech Ball Gouge: amzn.to/49D1kkd . I haven't fully used it to its full capabilities but it is a very nice tool if you wanted to carve deep into wood like bowls, deep curves etc. It does have a learning curve since it spins in only one direction so it sometimes chatters a certain way. I can dive deeper into it and make a video specifically on the little nuances the ball gouge has if that would help you! As for fear, I too have a bit of fear using an angle grinder, but i respect the tool in my hand, always have two hands on the grips, safety gear, and if I feel ANY type of resistance when carving i pull the tool away from the wood. I would say get comfortable with a regular sanding type disc then venture into a ball gouge when you feel ready. Hope this helps!
Thank you - I hope you get paid by Ryobi - you are kind of doing their job. Their instructions are rubbish!!!
I’m digging those walnut tones!
Ahh!! This is so mesmerizing!
I love the warmth the finished mantle adds to the space!
Thanks so much, happy with it!
That Domino is looking smooth! 😮💨
Such a nice addition to the shop!
