My cabin is just north of Farm Island. I need to fish it more often.
@@czykrepublic4323 havnt been on it much, but it sure seems like a fun lake. I bet the shallow bite is awesome...need to try that some next time.
@@manonamissionstudios9440 I've heard it has good walleye fishing and big sunfish too. There's always a thousand boats out there on the weekend though.

How are you identifying deep structure? I have older sonar and side imaging, and I can’t figure out anything.
@@briannorman3390 Side imaging, looking for hard spots and weed edges. Usually, for hard spots if its not showing a point or hump on the mapping a spot where the contour lines tighten up its generally firmer bottom. On soft bottom areas, some times I just scan over them and there will be hard bottom in the middle of nowhere. Find the weed edge, and scan just a bit deeper looking for brighter returns outside the edge, and start on those areas, drag something and you can feel rock, gravel or sand.
Great job on the brown one. Northland Minnesota mullet? We are going to Cape Cod for smallie fishing in the morning could catch largie and trout. I miss N MN fishing as it’s tough here and limited ramps. Trying out my Telesin mount you mentioned!

Hell of a day guys! That is one of my favorite lakes and would have never guessed a big bag like that was in there! Now keep the momentum going. Great job, tight line!
We were expecting a decent bag, but were pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Still couldn't dial in on any smallmouth..... I'm willing to bet there are some very large ones in there!
I love the lake as well, but it can really be a tough lake to get good ones. I was totally shocked this year!

Well done solo! I don’t catch only smallies in N MN only with largies. They are a blast to catch. What type of mount do you have for your chest camera? Looks more comfortable than most.
@@kathyg4906 I have two of the same type. Off Amazon, Telesin and Ulanzi neck mounts. I forced the Telesin removing the camera, so its a bit loose now. I bought the Ulanzi to see a different type of mount, I like it a bit better.
I use a Telsin brand too, but a different model than Marc. I couldn't get it to fit exactly the way I wanted so I did a modification on it.
I have a love/hate relationship with smallies. They're my favorite fish, but can be fickle and hard to find.
They are very frustrating, that's an understatement!😡
Yeah, I love catching them too, but I really have a tough time finding them. Once and a while we get on them, just trying be more consistent...not working out! 😂
Wow what an epic day! From watching your videos it appears you each do your own thing fishing. When on bite is hot do you both go to same bait?
@@kathyg4906 We will fish the same or similar baits.when the fish show a true preference. It's more likely we throw the same color than bait, when the fish are hot.
We often fish weedlines and are moving a lot of the time. In that case, Marc will fish a moving bait while casting the weed edge. I opt for a more slower presentation, generally a worm or jig... occasionally a ned rig or dropshot.

Do you fellas ever fish crankbaits or chatterbaits? If you can mix in some other horizontal presentations you are likely to open up all kinds of fun and big fish catches.
@@johnclinton9257 i fish cranks quite a bit, chatterbaits some, but not as much as we should. Have a video coming up with a crank/chatter bite.
Perhaps change your strategy once you have a limit. Try fishing shallow with power fishing techniques if you want upgrade your bag. Continuing to fish finesse tactics on the weedline will maybe get you some small culls. Finesse techniques catch a lot of fish but most of them are smaller compared to fish caught fishing frogs and especially jigs.
Thanks for the comment, and the advice. I agree with everything you said, especially on these clear deep weedline lakes. We tried a couple of dense coontail areas where we have gotten decent sized fish in the past, just didn't upgrade. We definitely force the deep bite as that is what we enjoy the most, but I agree we should expand our search when we start spinning our wheels on the dinks!

Been loving the videos man!!! Just wanting to try bass fishing as I just crappie fish the chain any recommendations on where to start or even what lakes one should try for largemouth? I fish island quite a bit ?
@@daltinackerman3009 Island has some great bass fishing. Actually, every lake in the chain has decent fishing, but to start stay on some of the smaller lakes. Island, Clamshell, Bertha, Little Pine, maybe Rush. Once you get an idea on the smaller lakes you can apply to the larger bodies of water.
Glad you can figure out that lake lol, I really despise that lake.
It's kind of a frustrating lake to fish. I think we have only had 1 really good bag on it, the rest of the time it is a struggle.

Oh man please tell me that isn’t the lake just north of the town. God that lake sucks, I swear every fish is 1.2lb. We just had tournament up there we took second with 12lb in change
@@kluckfabrication5991 It is east of town, and my understanding is its got good ones...but we have failed miserably both times we have been on it. Last year we had chances at a decent weight, but lost them. This year, T2 caught some decent ones (apparently! 🤣), but the lake has me frustrated..

I used to wear shorts and short-sleeve shirts, no gloves or buff. But I had several pre-cancerous lesions burned off my face so that was it for me.

@@mrrick3999 Yeah, I've noticed things are off in that area. I think the super high water has changed the weeds and where fish are positioned.
At least you guys got 5! It turns out that my fuel gauge was off before I even got to the lake. The float must have stuck or something. It said I had 50% fuel but then out of nowhere decreased to 5% within minutes. I'm just glad I didn't run out!!! LOL!!! It was fun either way and yeah... we saw TONS of big smallies and thousands of crawfish everywhere. We'll have to meet up again sometime. Thanks fellas, good seeing you!
@@RJBehrens1 yep, we will do it again! Always fun to fish with others. We fished with T2 one other time while they were up....that video will post late this week. They kicked our asses!! Its a very rough year for us. Caught more dinks today....sigh.

I believe the maxscent definitely makes a difference. The only issue I have with them is that the bass can swallow them deep very fast.
