I wish I could pay that low of a labor rate. Our minimum wage is $16 per hour so getting anyone willing to even wash cars for under $18/hour is like pulling teeth. I really wish NY would stop bunching the rest of us with the city. It's crushing small business. We are one the poorest county's in the state and have a 30% poverty rate. Currently I charge about $125 more on my full detail package than the other shops which helps but im pretty sure I have hit the ceiling on price.

How do I get third parties to stop calling me about my Google listing? There are a lot of scammers out there using different phone numbers so I potentially lose clients if I don't answer the calls, but I also know that Google never reaches out to you asking for money because your actual Google listing is free. I'm so over it! I get at least 10 calls a week 😮‍💨

Really enjoyed this episode! It was insightful and humble -- and I took away a few things that got me thinking about my own team Management in IT (I actually created my own department and SOPs and manage onboards and hardware for my organization, so I chuckled when you guys used that as an example of repeatable processes.) I think I recognized the connection between you guys a couple years ago with a post in the Obsessed Garage private Group by Chris D. I've known Kurt since he was (I think) in highschool with his BMW coupe. He was a detailer back then -- and I saw this same business acumen then and through some joint ventures in the local car world over the following several years. I figured he'd become an entrepreneur. It's cool to see that side hustle become a legitimate family-supporting business -- especially with the jump to leaving the cushy corporate world to give the business 100% focus. That's awesome.
