      Sorry for the late reply! I'm trying to remember off the top of my head. I did this over a couple days but in total I'd say around 6-8 hours.

    Thanks for your video. Good job! What kind of headlights do you have and where did get them? Also are they xenon?

    • @autoparted1337
      @autoparted1337 3 года назад

      Hey Joe, The headlights are the OE BMW but I opened them up and replaced the project housings with Morimoto EVOX-R from Lightwerkz and then a Helix replacement lens on the front sold by ECS. Made a huge difference from the stock light output and clarity. I also wired them so the low beam stays on with the high beam and plenty of light at night on back roads.

      @@autoparted1337 Thanks for your reply. Yeah they look nice. Can you please do a video on how you wired them like that?

      @@joes.1945 Thankfully it's a pretty simple procedure. I just ordered a harness "9005/9006 High Beam Splitter Wires" I'll have to have to see if i can find some time to make a video on how to do it. I'm hoping to get back into make more videos soon!

    Gonna change my filter tomorrow. First time in 16 years and 175 000 miles... Car has started to run rough. Hopefully replacing it will solve the problem. Great video :)

    Really hard to see what you are doing with the video quality you have. And this is important stuff. So thanks for the effort. Maybe a follow up?

    Thanks much. This is nicely done. Trying to screw up the courage to do this job myself, but it looks like a real p.i.t.a., and I don't have an engine hoist.

      @autoparted1337 6 лет назад

      It can be a tedious projects but well worth it! It's possible to do without an engine hoist. The hoist just makes it a lot easier IMO, but you could do it with a floor jack and stands. Good luck, I hope you get the courage! Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hello, I have the same car and the same problem with the steering rack, so thanks for your video. One question: do you have a servotronic system or not?

    • @autoparted1337
      @autoparted1337 6 лет назад

      László Takács my car does not have the servotronic system. I don’t have any experience with it but the procedure should be similar. Looks like you’d just have an electric connection to unplug which is located in the wheel well next to the abs plug.

      Hello, thanks for the answer. My car is without servotronic, I have just asked it because I thought your is with servotronic, and that is the resason to build out so many things to get it out. So, it seems I must do the same way ... I have thought it'll be easyer.

      I've done it both with and without taking out so much stuff but found it easier to drop the subframe and have the room. If you choose not to you can get the steering rack out but just have to position it the right way to slide it out. I found it to be more of a hassle and choose this method. Good luck with your car and let me know if you have nay more questions! I have a couple more videos to edit and upload but haven't had the time lately.
