    It's always sexism. 😂😂😂 Remember, Edward VI chose Jane Grey before he died; kudos to Mary for raising an army and having the support of the people. Catholics were so 🔥 Christ-like.

    • @GeniusHistoryChannel
      @GeniusHistoryChannel 28 дней назад

      Sexism definitely played a big role in how these women were perceived, no doubt! 😂 Mary I's story is so fascinating, especially when you consider how she managed to raise an army and claim the throne despite Edward VI’s attempt to pass it to Jane Grey. Her determination and the support she garnered from the people really show her strength as a leader. And yes, the religious tensions of the time were intense, with both sides claiming to be righteous. Mary’s devotion to Catholicism was a huge part of her identity, and her efforts to restore it make her reign all the more interesting. Thanks for your comment-history is always a wild ride!

    • @GeniusHistoryChannel
      @GeniusHistoryChannel 28 дней назад

      Isn’t it wild how history seems to have a special talent for turning powerful women into villains? It’s like the moment a woman takes charge, the drama starts! So many female leaders were way more complex and capable than the unfair labels they got stuck with. That’s one of the reasons I love making these videos-to flip the script and show just how strong and dynamic these women really were. Thanks for your comment, and I hope this video helps set the record straight!

    I hate the nickname for her. Written by the protestants that followed......she didn't compared to the death tolls racked up by her father or her siblings. Given what she and her mother went through of course she was going to try to re-establish Roman Catholicism and the connection with Rome quite a bit of England was still room in Catholic and one at this back I applaud her for her wonderful attempts to try to re-establish the Church & to try to undo all the misery that her father and her little brother had put onto her Nation

    • @GeniusHistoryChannel
      @GeniusHistoryChannel 28 дней назад

      Thank you for sharing your perspective! It’s true that Mary I’s reign is often overshadowed by her father's and siblings’ legacies, and the nickname ‘Bloody Mary’ was largely influenced by later Protestant writers. While her reign was marked by religious turmoil, it’s important to understand the context of her efforts to restore Roman Catholicism after her father’s break from Rome. Given the challenges she faced and her personal hardships, her attempts to undo what she saw as the damage to her faith and country are certainly remarkable. I appreciate your thoughtful insight and for engaging with the video!

      @GeniusHistoryChannel 28 дней назад

      Thank you for bringing this up-it's an important and ongoing issue. Unfortunately, the mistreatment of women in medical settings has a long history, and while we've made progress, there are still instances today where women’s pain and needs aren’t adequately addressed. This video highlights a dark chapter in medical history, but it’s crucial that we continue to discuss and advocate for better treatment practices now. I appreciate you shedding light on this, and it’s something that definitely deserves more attention in both the medical community and society as a whole.

    • @GeniusHistoryChannel
      @GeniusHistoryChannel 28 дней назад

      I completely understand your concern. A biography of Lenin would provide such rich, in-depth insight, and it’s true that many people’s education on the Russian Revolution comes from much shorter, more surface-level content. This video, titled 'Did the Russian Revolution Deliver on Its Big Promises?', is meant to spark interest and encourage viewers to dive deeper into the complexities of that period. It’s impossible to cover everything in one short video, but I hope it inspires further exploration into Lenin’s role and the broader impacts of the revolution. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and for taking the time to delve into such an important part of history!

    • @GeniusHistoryChannel
      @GeniusHistoryChannel 28 дней назад

      You’re absolutely right! This video is meant to be a quick snapshot, just under a minute, focusing on one key aspect of history to grab attention. I do have a longer video that dives deeper into the topic, though even that one can’t cover everything. It's difficult to fit the full impact of the revolution into smaller chapters. I highly recommend our history-loving community to dig deeper and research these events-there’s nothing more rewarding than the knowledge gained through personal exploration. My goal is to sum up the information I have and present it in a way that’s accessible to everyone, no matter how much time they have. With so much trivial content out there, I believe understanding our past is crucial for shaping a clearer and better future. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment!

    The fall of Babylon, especially as depicted in the Bible and other historical sources, is often imagined as a scene of desolation, chaos, and abandonment. Here's a possible depiction of Babylon immediately after its fall: The once-mighty city, known for its towering walls, grand palaces, and the famous Hanging Gardens, lies in ruins. Its once-bustling streets are eerily quiet, with rubble and debris scattered everywhere. The grand temples and ziggurats, once filled with worshippers, now stand abandoned, their massive stone facades cracked and crumbling. Fires burn in the distance, where looters and invaders have set parts of the city alight. The Euphrates River, which once provided the lifeblood of the city, flows silently by, its banks now strewn with broken statues, shattered pottery, and remnants of once-grand structures. The once-vibrant marketplaces are deserted, with overturned carts, scattered goods, and the remains of hurriedly abandoned stalls littering the ground. Cyrus the Great's army, having breached the city's defenses, moves through the city, enforcing order where needed but allowing the chaos of conquest to take its toll. The proud Babylonian nobles, once rulers of the known world, are now either dead, captured, or in hiding. The city's inhabitants, caught between fear and uncertainty, either flee or huddle in their homes, awaiting their fate under new rulers. The sense of an era coming to an end hangs heavily in the air, as Babylon, once a symbol of unmatched power and luxury, faces its tragic downfall.

      Thank you for your comment and for pointing this out. I understand the importance of accurate terminology and the significance of honoring the true names and titles of the Mexican people and their deities. The reason I referred to them as Aztecs in this video is to differentiate from other incredible civilizations in Mexican history, such as the Maya. The term "Aztecs" is often used in historical contexts to specifically highlight this particular legacy within the broader and diverse Mexican heritage. I strive to present historical content with respect and accuracy, so I appreciate your feedback. It's true that Tsar Nicholas II and his family were known for their acts of compassion, such as visiting the injured and offering financial support to those affected by the war. These actions reflected their genuine concern for the Russian people. Despite their efforts, the complexities of political and social turmoil during that time overshadowed their acts of kindness.

      I also don't believe that Tsar Nicholas II ordered the shooting, nor do I think he was as harsh on his country and his people as some claim. A family often reflects the character of a person, and the Romanovs were indeed a wonderful example of love and care for each other.
