Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrelproof
I keep this one in my collection at all times (as I do several Texas bourbons).
I'm going to give that a try next
This is a terrific scotch. It's consistently delicious. I prefer peated scotch but this one is lovely. This is a solid 88 and happily it's easy to find in Vancouver. The Lagavulin 11 4th Edition Offerman is delicious if you can find it! Islay smoke and rum casking! Cheers
Bunnahabhain is one of my go-to scotch whiskys. I absolutely love it. I will pick up one of those rum cask finished Offerman Lagavulins soon. Thanks for the recommendation!
@@WhiskeyCouyonsYW!! 🙂
Yeah I want to get that Offermen edition as well, I've had all the rest of them, so I might as well keep getting them.
@@Rynue19 The latest one is amazing! I bought a case!
Something i have to try 👍🥃😉
Not a JD guy most of the time I do enjoy their SBBP offerings. Just got back from the Jazz festival and we stopped in the Sazerac house and got some ER and other bottles at very good prices. I was kinda surprised I couldn’t find the JT Meleck so I’ll have to order directly from them. I’ll have to give this a try. Same with their bonded series. Enjoy!!
I think JD is decent whiskey, but at uncut Barrelproof, it's fantastic. Definitely get you some JT Meleck, that's some unique stuff right there. I save mine for LSU football games. I had it first during LSU/Bama 2022 game. It felt like a lucky pour. Cheers!
Love this stuff. I don't have a drinking problem. I have a collecting problem. I have 7 of these. All different barrels. Mixing usually produces amazing results. Have 3 barrel proofs too. This was and is my daily sipper until Buffalo Trace came along. Now I go back and forth. It's hard to admit it but I may like the Bonded better. Hard to believe it's so good for around $30.
Awesomeness 👍
I like the JD Barrel Proofs and The Triple Mash, the rye is also really good.
keep up the good work
Thanks,
Where y’all from?
Thibodaux
I’m from Houma!! Awesome to see some locals!!
It is fantastic. Cost about $45 in Louisiana. Can find it in Houston for around $52.
I love the complexity in this expression from Glen Scotia! The 15 is lovely! It's a lot more in Canada but it's usually on my bar (and my husband's!). Terrific video! Cheers!
Thanks for sharing!
@@WhiskeyCouyons YW!
This is one of my favourite Lagavulin expressions. Lovely flavours on the palette.
I like this Rye a lot!
Yea, it's delicious.
@@Rynue19 The 8 year aged Bourbon from New Riff is worth trying! I am a single malt scotch lover but a good Rye or Bourbon are also fabulous! Have a terrific day! Thanks for replying! Cheers!
I'll keep an eye out for it.
So I couldn't find the 8-year new rift, but I just picked up a barrel strength single barrel new rift. Along with a few other things. So be on the lookout for that review in the next few weeks, and a shout out for the suggestion.
Sounds fabulous! I will watch for the new reviews for sure!! Cheers! 🥂
I wish this Ardbeg Bizarre BQ was part of the core range! I really enjoy it a lot. I'm grateful to have found 2 bottles! Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Kilchomen, Laphroaig - love them all! The 5th batch of Ardbeg Traigh Bhan is fabulous. Pricey but fabulous! Thanks for the terrific, informative video! I appreciate it! Cheers! 🙂
Fabulous scotch! This peated Islay whisky is always welcome! Delicious! Interesting video! Thanks!
I really like this whisky too. Thanks for watching, and especially for commenting and giving us your impressions on this one.
I find it odd you would call that floral at all, minty, green apple, or leathery. I know bottles like that can vary a bit, but I get none of that on the one I have. I get dark chocolate, baking spices, a little caramel and vanilla, some sort of darker fruit flavor i cant pick out, but no apple. Then again, I keep seeing people describe the other Old Foresters as having banana in the nose and palate and I thankfully can detect no banana in any of them.
Single barrels can very wildly sometimes. I did find this one to be quite a bit different from other Old Forester products. The fun with reviewing whiskey, is almost everyone is going to find different notes. My bottle was Warehouse k. Floor 6. Unfortunately no age statement, but the difference in our bottles could be just that. With a little more age green apple could turn into dark fruit and Rich leather can turn into dark chocolate. I'll give it another pour and see if I get any of what you got. Cheers
So I had a couple more pours of mine, and I can agree with the baking spices upfront, adds to the richness. I still get mint, sweet fruit (green apple), and the mouth fill/finish is very rich, warm, and leathery. My bottle is very sweet, front to back, and dark chocolate is bitter. So I'm inclined to think we have different single barrels. I agree there is little caramel or vanilla though. Thanks for the comment, I enjoyed comparing notes.
Going to give it a try. Hello from west Monroe la
Well Podnah, it's a good one whether you been enjoying whiskey for years or looking to find a good new bottle to pick up. Thanks for watching!
I didn't realize Still Austin was 2 years. I find that surprising. I don't get a lot of cherry, just a touch. She is a spice bomb on my palate - cinnamon, pepper, allspice, nutmeg, maybe even a touch of cardamom. I do get the mint at the back. Still Austin is one of those 'must have' for my whiskey cabinet. I wish it was $55 in my neck of the woods. The cheapest I have seen in Seattle is $67.
Definitely a spice bomb, spot on, and one of the better priced craft whiskeys on the market. Thanks for the comment and describing what flavors you get with it, and thanks for watching.
KC 12 is amazing
I have the rye and it’s fantastic. Will be backing up my backup. Luckily it is now just sitting on the shelf. I’m going to get the bonded I’m not a huge JD guy but what they are doing now is just on another level.
Jd single barrel is pretty harsh shit , not a pleasure to drink neat tbh
It may have been that particular single barrel. I've had a couple that definitely needed a little water for sipping.
@WhiskeyCouyons at the price though in UK it's kind of put me off when eagle rare is cheaper over here
Great review, one of my favorites for sure. Geaux Tigers!
I love the SBBP Rye as well, really good!
I havent had the Barrelproof rye before, but hear good things. I've heard the twice barreled Barrelproof rye and the JD Coy Hill stuff was fantastic also. I have not come across those.
Great pour
Love it, Avoyelles Parish here!!!
I've been trying more whiskeys on the rocks lately, and I find the cask strength really holds up to the ice and is awesome when you just want a relaxing mid day drink.
I forgot to change the whiskey name in the intro, sorry. A little under the weather today.
I LOVE IT❤
Sounds like someone is snoring in the background of your video.
Yea, that would be my English Bulldog, Gizmo.
Whiskey of the year candidate
One of the main reasons I wanted to review it, but also the age statement of 13 years 7 months. EC BP releases are some of the best whiskey drops every year
Depends on the cigar, it might pair well with a mild flavor cigar, there's a cigar for every flavor of whiskey 😊
Thats some good stuff. My favorite barrel proof bourbon.
That and the Larceny Barrel Proof
It's not bad, but not worth the price they want for it.
I had Smoke Wagon UCUF from 2020 and it is not good. I paid $78 and there are many other bottles I’d rather have. I don’t like white pepper so maybe that what I find off putting.I got caught up in the hype and I was trying to get in good with some store owners and bought too many. Now I’m stuck with the small batch. 2 UCUF and a BiB. Ugh
Thanks for the review!
Missed this one!!! Maybe I’ll stumble across one…..
If you find one, buy it. They are always a definite buy in my book. Fantastic bottle for the price, and the price isn't bad.
Haven't had this one yet, but I like Heaven Hill products and Evan Williams BIB is my house well whiskey, so I think I'll like it. But the price needs to come down. Like he said, Put it in a bag, I'll get my own bottle.😂
Thanks for the review! I know there is some hate for this one….. I like it.
I like this one too. I'm a big Heaven Hill fan, and it's a lot more rounded than their Evan Williams products. I know prices have changed with whiskey, and it's a little pricey but its a good pour. 🍻
Wish I could find this one. I like the 100 OF and of course the 1920. Have a safe and enjoyable 4th. Enjoy!!
Knob Creek is always on my shelf. Just picked up the 7 year rye. Haven’t found the 12 yet but it’s sold when I do as long as it’s not over priced. Nice thing about this is it’s not crazy expensive I get the 9 for 34 dollars. Along with Woodford and Elijah and WT I’m good I don’t chase unicorns nor would I pay those prices. Enjoy!!
Just revisiting the 59.5 % bottling now and I must say out of my over 325 bottle collection this is one of my favorite whiskies! So much so I just bought an additional case. This is just damm delicious!
Couldn't agree more! Very delicious and unique.
Great bourbon! I am drinking the KC single barrel right now. I love them both.
My favorite Knob Creek was the quarter barrel 9 year. Mini cask, it was great. Really Rich in flavor.
Both are great as is the KC 120 proof single barrel
Thanks for the review! Yep. Big fan of knob creek! I haven’t tried the maple variation however.
I will definitely be picking up the 9 year 120 proof. Id be really interested in a 12 year 120 proof. The 12 year 100 proof is next week's review.
I haven't tried the maple yet either, I might have to try that out at a bar or restaurant first before getting a bottle.
Thanks for the review! This one hasn’t made it to North Texas yet. Liked and subscribed.
Awesome! Thank you!
You'll have a lot of fun with that barrel! I picked up a 3L barrel in January and filled it with BT Mash #1. It lived in my home office for about a month, and then I realized that the barrel wasn't getting the temperature swings and changes in humidity that the big boys have, so I put it out on my back porch, which is covered and had no direct sun. I tasted it every week for 4 months and then bottled it (save the White Dog bottles and re-use them!) What I got was a young bourbon that has a distinct butterscotch note. It proofed at 120 with a hygrometer. Part 2 of the barrel story is that I now had a used bourbon barrel... what else can I do with it? My wife loves Widow Jane Decadence, but it is a once a year bottle, so I decided to age some maple syrup in the barrel for a month. The maple syrup was then removed and bottled (it is amazing!) and I now have the barrel filled with Weller Special Reserve. It definitely tastes close to Decadence, and I'm keeping it in for a few more weeks to try and pull some more oak into it, I hope this gives you some ideas, and good luck with your single barrel experiment!
Man, that's awesome. The maple syrup was a good idea. Its great that you've got so much use out of that barrel. I've been wanting to do this for so time. I'm excited to see what we come up with.
Good review. 👍
I have a barrel strength bottle coming !! Can’t wait
Sweet, I have a bottle pop review of the barrel strength available on the channel if you like.
It is an amazing whiskey!!! Have friends in Lake Charles , LA sent me a bottle!! I love it
Awesome, glad you like. They have store pick barrel strength bottles available now as well.
😋 P R O M O S M
I wasn't really sure what that meant, I had to look it up, but nothing we've done is paid promotion. We don't have that big of a following, we just like whiskey. We have bought and paid for everything that we've done. That being said, if a company or fan wanted to send us free whiskey for review, that would be great, but would be stated in the video.
Turns out it's aged in ex bourbon casks from multiple sources I've read online. I wished they would have mentioned a little something on the bottle about the casks.
Good review for sure. Fantastic bottle. You guys should try some Foursquare expressions as well.
For some of us 125 proof is a bit hot for sipping, so this is what I do. I buy two bottles, one each of the Top Floor (86 proof) and the Full Proof (125), blend the two in an empty 1.75L jug, then refill each 750ML bottle. That gives me two Benchmark 105.5 proof bourbons at an average cost of $17 per bottle. Trust me, it is really good and I find 105.5 to be a better proof for sipping.
That's a great idea. 125 is a high proof, and sometimes 100-110 proof hits the mark perfectly. It really just depends on the whiskey and mood at the time for us. Cheers!
Interesting, might need to come up with a name for that, Benchmark Penthouse Floor, or something like that.
