How To make Premium Weed Guards for Crappie Jigs
Просмотров 90 тыс.4 года назад
In this video I share how we make weed guards for the Crappie jigs I use specifically for vertical jigging in deep heavy cover. I've caught over 40 Crappie, all on the same jig, in one day, and went home with that same jig still tied to my pole. Definately worth the time to make a few quality jigs. The extra effort pays for itself. Thanks for watching

Yours leak out of the fill ports like my 22 has since new?
Mine seems to as well, and can't find any reason why...
how do u disengage the tranaxale to push the x one?
😅
Been looking for someone with a chicken coop, that decided not to put a floor in. I am interested how it has been working out for you? Does it get muddy and nasty? Or does bedding do the trick at keeping it dry enough.
I built the dirt pad up about a foot higher than the yard & cut a shallow drain around the pen....i also put a sheet of tin at the bottom to keep some rain put... we had a monsoon here last week & they stayed pretty dry. I have an endless supply of pine needles on my place... I rake out my coop once a week & replace the bedding.... I'll add a little pine chippins in to.... My girls seem to be pretty happy.

Still a fine tutorial...! Thanks for posting!
Glad it was helpful!
Outstanding hoss
It is always handy to be able to Yankee engineer the solution to a problem in a situation with no other options But realistically, when you add up all of the time invested in doing this and the cost of materials, you would be way better off to just purchase weedless jigs to start with???
i would if i could find some premade like this!
Looks nice.
I enjoyed your video. Very practical. What size bobbin should I order for a regular spool of thread?
That's a new one. Really great process. Thanks, brother!😊
Glad you liked it!
Lol we're you using a toaster oven for your heat treatment ?! I was thinking of using my oven
yes
it has a stay on feature that bypasses the timer
@@FlintKnapper007 yea bcuz that's what I was thinking about due to all the toasters I find never seem to have that feature .. I've used a turkey pot and even a fire pit but almost got in trouble on ppl getting mad at me so I was finding new discrete way of cooking my stones. I always time it when I do the fire pit but I'm new to the oven method and I have lots of Georgetown and pedernales and agate. I wonder if I have less room for mistake doing it in the oven or if I find a toaster like yours but Im going to try . Thanks for your vids bro
@@boinecastillo7455thank you!
@@FlintKnapper007 from one friendly caveman to another !!!
Nice work!! Was that Ft. Payne?
Georgetown
Also I like that you stopped knapping to hang out with your daughter, those memories matter more than anything else in life. You have the right priorities in order.
thanks
I love when I find new flintknappin channels. Awesome video thanks
thanks!
How well do these work is thick tree tops? How's the hookup ratio?
Very well... you'll get hung up in the Y elbows time to time.... there have been days ive caught 20+ in heavy stuff & never lost a jig.
Unga bungaaa!!
Thats so sweet . Im in Bovina right outside of Vicksburg. I have a field above a creek and a mound. After deer season, I find them like that sitting up high on a pedestal.👍
That is awesome!
Awesome!! That's something I have never found!! It's like touching a piece of history. I love it. Please keep sharing. I love relics
Glad you enjoyed it
nice!!
Thanks!
Nice work
Dang throwing shade at good ol Richard. Both serve their purpose and both work well I bet.
lol, sorry... what does "throwin shade at Richard" mean?
Wooooooo!
How much oil does each hydro require to refill.
Sorry, i recall 3 qts was adequate for both tanks.
Can you share the link to your cutters?
I took my wife and son there this past Sunday and it has been dug out and washed out so bad. Between 6 of us we found 5 small teeth.
i only go after a flood. gotta watch the creek levels for that area
Teşekkürler. Denizde kayalık alanlarda levrek avlıyorum. İğne nin takılma kayalara oranı düşecek sayende.
Good video!
Cool video. In the past, I've made videos on another channel using a cheap tripod, a smartphone mount for a tripod and a smartphone. This might be helpful for you in the future. Also, I was going to say that baking soda sprinkled on super glue causes it to cure almost instantly. It might cost less than UV glue. However, it's just a thought. Also, I've seen bait holders on hooks made using a bent piece of a paper clip and heat shrink tubing. This might also be useful for you as well. Sincerely, Jacob
Great job plain and simple
Good thinking! Weed guard and keeper barb in the same operation.
That’s great I like that
Great early site. beautiful San Patrice!
Thanks!
Thank you Sir for sharing. I was looking for a way to bend myself a bait keeper and add to my jigs that I tie a weed guard onto just as you. I had not thought about using the same 30 lb test mono for the the bait keeper as well. I will try this. I have found that 30 lb works good for me, especially for my 1/16 oz jigs. Thank you again fir the great idea.
i used 30... i got hung up a lot. going to 60lb was a game changer for me.
@@FlintKnapper007 I tried the 30 # mono and it worked great for 1/64 and 1/32 and 1/24 with # 6 sickle wire hooks, black little nasty and gold. Using small rubber jigs.
Great info please keep them coming thanks
Just an FYI,it's not a black light it's a UV light. 2 completely different things
Yep... mispoke.. daggumit my OCD got me now... Now Im gonna have to redo the whole video! 😂
Are weedless jigs so much more expensive then non weedless ones that it’s worth the trouble doing all this?
if you lose as many jigs as me.... definately worth it
good tip
Awesome idea!
I subbed and liked, ky
Great show bud, ky
Great video. I learned something that I will use., Thanks great idea
very good video I can tell from your hands you don't work for a living lol thanks
He works smart, not stupid.. stupid makes ya worn out ya hear
Im a taxidermist
but thanks for the compliments on my purdy bear paws.... 😂
Nice bro I'm from Covington, an I've been buying weedless jigs for a good lil min now. Thanks best I've seen
Awesome job!!
what i did to mine is i have a very tiny screwdriver bit just a tad bigger than my 50lb mono line and made a tiny hole on the jig head with it put my weed guard and glue it works great plus is super simple.
Do-it molds makes a mold that does just that.
Nice
Why not just buy weedless jigs?
if i can find a jig made exactly like this i would.
