One of the child actor’s Na’eem Dinath sadly passed away from Covid-19 in 2020 not long after turning 50. A few weeks before contracting Covid, he called me, sounding quite excited, to say that he found this video on RUclips. He didn’t realise that I had found the copy & posted it.

Why tf am i seeing this now😩
Thank you for uploading this. I'm teaching this story to my Gr 11 FAL class. I would really love to get hold of the original. I know you said it's not readily available...but do you have ANY suggestions on how I could get hold of one that is better quality? Willing to pay costs.
Thanks for the feedback. So far this is the best I could get. I'll keep trying.
That's my mom
The grade 12 short story starts at 10:30
Tnx
Compare with current Park Stations, the one handed down by SAR/SAS to Metro, Shosoloya Meyl and Premiere Class, and the underground one for Gautrain.
I remember that I went here a few times just to vote.
There was a time in Yeoville when the main street's one way direction was turned round. People moaned, and so there was a referendum for if it should be turned back around. It might have been at that recreation centre. I wonder what date it was.
Interesting. I stayed in Yeoville from 1990 to 1999. I also stayed near to that building. I always wanted to visit inside it, but never got around to it. It also had various courses, many of which I would like to have done. But, I worked shifts then. So, it would have been a hassle all the time.
I know her too..lol ...good person
the designers are phenician, like you say the same as the rest of the world, Chicago, san Francisco, Dresden, warsaw you name it, all one big Babylon, these buildings were here since before we were, like the castle that's now called st johns in jhb, old as fuck, templar triangles above the window frames, phenician pillar with triangle on the top entrances, doorways built to match the stature of the men who built them, large and small steps leading up to them to cater for men our size and the larger rulers. historians are full of shit. by the dates given, these buildings in Sydney Australia cannot have been built by anyone besides convicts with no logistics at a time when men were after gold not architectural anything. the stone ruins of Mpumalanga look like the foundations of demolished Tartarian tower structures, the orange river colony found graves of men over 8ft buried with a fair amount of gold, Zimbabwe the same, one explorer there spoke of stumbling across ruins of vast cities just poking out of the bush. the fact the univercities bear the same architecture means to me their education breeds slaves and imbeciles. the old maps show the locations of everything, discard britains new correct maps they are garbage. the Chicago buildings are also buried several levels deep, photos exist. also im sure you would have noticed street level windows seemingly built half under ground? well that's retarded, no one is going to build anything like that, evidence of a massive flood. libraries containing huge books not made for us, huge musical instruments not made for us, old punt guns allegedly used to hunt ducks, made by and for very big men, the triggers are the give away, our modern large rifles still cater for our hands, we would never over size features like that, just like we wouldn't build huge door ways or ceilings so high that the elites feel like tiny little insects that they are. Hierusalem and palistine are cities of phenicia on the old maps.
No
I'd love to visit this building
PG Bison competition 2018 is to revitalise the building and surrounding spaces.
The sad thing about these stories; is that they always tend to be very one sided - it's like only one race group lived in Vrededorp. Fietas The Forgotten People History of Fietas Vrededorp/ Pageview (also known as Fietas), dates back to as far as the early 1800s, when gold was first discovered in the Reef. People from all walks of life came to Johannesburg to seek for employment and to work in the mines. Some of these people settled here and made this their home. Black, White, Coloured and Indian people lived merrily side by side with each other. - In 1986, the Group Areas Act (Act No. 41 of 1950) was enforced on the people living in Vrededorp. - Coloured and Indian people were forcefully moved to places like the Western Coloured Township (Westbury), Riverlea, Nuclear, Noordgesig, Bosmont, Eldorado Park and Lenasia, (in the South of Johannesburg). - Unlike the other forced removals, black people living in Fietas were never given an alternative place to stay. - This left a large number of people destitute and they had nowhere to go but to stay in Fietas. - Some property owners took advantage of this and they started exploiting the people. They rented out the old and dilapidated buildings to the people living in the area. - With the massive influx into the city, loss of jobs and overcrowding in the city, slums started to mushroom in and around Johannesburg: - One of such slums was the area called Fietas; an area situated about 5 kilometres west of Johannesburg City Centre. - Most of these people were old, unemployed and sick. They could not afford the exorbitant rents that the property owners were charging them, so they started defaulting on the rentals. - The landlords also started to negate on maintaining their properties, ie. they were not paying their levies to the municipalities. Current Status of Vrededorp - Today Vrededorp is home to no less than 28 000. 00 people living in absolute squalor. - We only have one shelter in the area. - No less than 500 homeless people are living in the streets of Vrededorp. - We have a large number of backyard- dwellers and squatters in Vrededorp. - We have all kinds of races in Vrededorp; - We have White People, Coloured people, Indians People, Africans living here. - All from different backgrounds, different religions, different ethnic groups, different races and different cultures. - Most of the people living in Vrededorp are old, sick and poor. - There are no Schools, no Libraries, no Clinics, no Hospital, no Police Station and no Shopping Centres in Vrededorp. - Kids do not finish school; - they just drop out before they reach matric. - There are no extramural activities in the area. - Alcohol and drug abuse is rife in Vrededorp. In contrast to the recent police report on crime statistics, crime especially copper theft and vandalism is on the rise. Unhygienic and the unpatriotic nature of the people of Vrededorp is also a major contribution to the rapid decay in the area. Positive Attributes of the area. - Vrededorp is situated next to two of the biggest universities in the land (Wits and UJ). - We have a Recreation Centre here which is not fully utilised. - Vrededorp is just a stone throw from the biggest broadcasting co- operation in Africa (SABC). - We have a number of unused, vacant plots and patches of land in Vrededorp. - We do have a few NGO’s and CBO’s operating in Vrededorp. Vrededorp has one of the most diverse communities in the land. Poverty, unemployment, crime and homelessness is rife in Vrededorp. More than 10 years ago, Vrededorp was in co-operated into the Inner- City Regeneration Project. It was declared a priority area by the previous Mayor Mr. Amos Masondo. Up till now Vrededorp is just as it was some ten years ago. In fact the area is fast deteriorating in to a slum. Conclusion This is the story of Fietas - not the ones we read in history books. This is the story of Fietas - not the ones we are told in museums. This is a community that has been over looked by the previous government and badly neglected by the current administration. This is the story of Fietas. Thank you for going through this short story of Fietas. Compiled by ;- John Thusi Community Member
nice piece of work
can i knew who's the singer of this anthem?
typical SABC your opening scene is the old IBM building..... cant even get that right
Yo that IBM Building is amazing. From the Carton Centre it looks like a mother board
@@Clark_Kent_ZA I was there once, its much higher than in the video, however the Carlton is even higher,
Have good news for all of you guys, something BIG will be happening finally...
How much did these towers cost
i think the place is an eye sore
room 603
Great place
I think Ralph Flynn was the architect. After 10 years away from SA my visit was interesting. The Plaza seems less frenetic now but otherwise little changed and the shop owners seem older - like the last generation (perhaps with sons and daughters now doctors in Canada). I lived in Brixton and have fond memories of shopping there. Johannesburg is now an African city I hardly recognize.
The mosque designed by Prof. Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil
David is the BOSS! :D
Designed by Who? Comrie Wilkinson Architects ?
OK I don't get this...Who is Pheta Mofolo? This building was designed by Atelier Architects who owned and built this building.....
Great interview Mr Khuzwayo! i am so proud of you! keep on climbing that Architect ladder Boss!!!
OMG this guy is super boring!! Less of him and more of the building!!
They should restore that structure and the Old Park Station that still exists underground circa 1932.
That's my sister!!!!! So proud :)
Having lived in Johannesburg - Eloff Street, Hillbrow, Yeoville - being exposed to much of the rich Art Deco Architecture throughout the city - this and other architectural narratives in this series really resonnate with me ... owen_mshengu_sharif
