Thanks for your research. It's depressing realizing how much logging interests manage to get the story that benefits their short term interests out via the forest service.

In Spain it was found loose needled ground cover had high oxidization, and the most intense fires. Dense compact accretions of leaf scales found on cedar trees could not get enough oxygen to carry the fire. Where in the former fires burned hottest the ground baked like fireclay making the soil impervious to water infiltration for a number of years. I also know with Armillaria fungus in NZ stumps, and dead trees can carry this pathogenic fungus through dead roots to attack living trees. I do not know about the USA. Also rain erosive impact on bare soil can be huge. I read that the oldest production forests in the Eastern USA have lost about 12 inch's of soil from repeated exposures at each harvest over the last 200 years. This is the high Cation exchange soil tilth that would in a natural system hold the soil nutrients. Gone. Hillsides soils are a habitat in of themselves.

Interesting discussion. I'm not an expert, so can't say who's right, but you make sense. Definitely distrust the industry/political opinions.

Consider teaching the generations below yours that a certain socioeconomic "ideology" which gets "poo-poo'd" heavily by the current one We are all trapped in is actually the sane one, and it will work to truly solve many of the issue Humanity faces yes I am talking about socialism/communism...

Most warming has occurred in the last 30 years; at this rate warming will increase by 2 degrees Celsius in the next 100 years. "If warming reaches 2 degrees Celsius, more than 70 percent of Earth's coastlines will see sea-level rise greater than 0.66 feet (0.2 meters), resulting in increased coastal flooding, beach erosion, salinization of water supplies and other impacts on humans and ecological systems." NASA

@@JoyFrew That figure of 57.2 degrees F is current and not a guesstimate. It has been fairly constant. Since you brought it up the satellite that measures sea level rise say the rise is 3.2 mm/yr yes that is millimeters per year and this figure has been constant since the satellite cane on line and this figure has been backed up by tidal gauges, not by a scare monger.

The Earth is going to die. We are living in the last days. Throwing trillions of $$$ up in the air is NOT going to stop the climate change. The Earth is re-gaining its original axis, so the entire planet will have new weather! I remember when the magnetic North used to be in Canada. Now it is located in Siberia, I grew up in a sub tropical region and I now we are having snow! and Macron and his imbeciles followers insist in "green" energy. We are facing politics with reality and it is not a pretty picture. WWIIi has begun it is not going to stop. We should concentrate in surviving than in "pie in the sky" green energy. If a volcano is going to erupt, would it be a good idea to pay billions so you can plug it? I am sure you would agree! Idiots...
