Just looking at the minecraft AI game- It would need like 20 h200s going at once to make this in real time XD But I mean, its possible in a few years sure, the future is insane. Bunch of knuckle draggers going to dislike this though

My suspicion is that game engines will eventually fully embrace generative AI, and game developers will start to look a lot like prompt-engineers. The main problem is the cost to generate high fidelity visuals in realtime, currently. As the cost to produce generative content goes down, more and more games will start using the tech in a variety of ways. One of the most interesting ones I've seen is DayZ footage with photorealistic visuals skinned over it. Really gives a glimpse into what a game like that could be like when the visuals are indistinguishable from actual recorded video.

Even though I understand the use of AI for reference and brainstorming, as someone who loves medieval fantasy I cant help but think I've seen all of this before, it hardly feels original.

This is exactly the kind of stuff i thought generative ai was supposed to be used for when it first came out, that's why I didn't understand the people saying "people will lose jobs". Not really, the tech isn't good enough to generate an entire game, but it can help concept artists get past the starting block quicker, or even help creative block. Lazy people will use it for their entire creative process but their wins will be short lived when they get tasked with something technical.
